Yeah it does. But it has less ammo and does less damage per shot. In a sense it's a pretty weak gun, although I actually kind of like it.

I prefer the Phalanx. The Carnifex just seems to be an unhappy medium where it lacks the Phalanx's punch and the Predator's rate of fire and ammo.

Ultimately I prefer the Phalanx's precision. It's powerful and accurate enough to actually stand on it's own merits - with similar overall performance to the Vindicator, funnily enough (1 Phalanx shot is roughly equivalent to one Vindi burst in terms of power and RoF) whereas the Carnifex's pitiful ammo levels and major recoil just render it a very short term, emergency weapon at best.

I've never been a huge fan of the Predator, mainly because it's never the best choice for any situation. It may have lots of ammo and reasonable RoF... but so does the Locust. Just a lot more of both. At short ranges it's eclipsed by all the shotties and at longer ranges, Vipers, Mattocks etc are all better. The only real thing it does is a bit of backup.... and frankly, I'd rather have a pistol that does something well rather than just be something I use if I somehow start avoiding thermal clips.

My experience is on insanity.
As an infiltrator I prefer the Carnifex. The Locust is fast enough to dissuade me from picking up the Predator (though I haven't really used it much since I got the Carnifex). I feel like the Phalanx is a little unneeded for me, since I use my heavy pistol exclusively for close-medium range anti-armor or low health targets, the sniper rifle for anything else. The Phalanx fires slower than the Carnifex, and I prefer something with a better fire-rate at that critical, close range. That said the Carnifex really fits me well as the in-between in damage and speed. I'm considering making either a sentinel or an engineer as another playthrough. Might be more useful on those classes.

I never understood this trope. It's a laser dot that you place on the target. I don't really understand how anyone would find that to be any more distracting then a crosshair, but I guess this is subjective.

As for rate of fire.... to be honest, unless you're in TheWarofArt's situation, the carnifex's rate of fire is largely meaningless. You'll only ever actually gain any benefit from it at shorter ranges, as the recoil is such that you'll miss a lot at medium ranges plus. It simply doesn't have the ammo to be spammed.

Personally I think none of the pistols are particularly bad looking. I'd say they're the only class of weapon in ME2 that this can be said of.

When I try to use Adrenaline Rush, I usually only get 1 or 2 shots in, and get more shots in with the Carnifex or Predator.

It is yeah. I find it more difficult to use, but with a bit of practice I am now a decent show with it. It's a bit annoying that it doesn't feel as quick to aim though.

But at this point I've begun to use the Phalanx early-game with caster classes to take out the missile spammers in Mordin's recruitment for example. I find it to be the superior pistol here. Then I swap it with the predator once I'm through the beginning.

Yes. I start out with the Phalanx for caster classes then switch to the Predator. Mostly just personal preferences though, because you don't really NEED pistols later on.

Personally? (sure I said this alreday...)
Predator mostly for the clip size and spare ammo capacity. Fully upgraded and it can hold it's own against the Carnifex.

Carnifex is like the Desert Eagle of the Handguns. High power but suffers from a slower RoF and smaller clip size.

It's all personal preferance in the end. I personally prefer the Predetor as if needed it can survive in an extended fire-fight plus the high RoF is useful for when I charge using my Vanguard.

Chances are when I do my Renegade Adept I'd choose the Carnifex or the Phalax for the more powerful shot's

I'm a little weird when it comes to that.
As a vanguard I carry my Claymore and shove it down my enemies throat and pull the trigger. It's sheer power being the reason I took it.
But look at the puny Predetor, you'd thought I'd take the Carnifex XD
...although lately the Phalax has taken my fancy

I don't mind te laser personally. It reminds me of my resident evil days XD

The laser some times doesn't show up. I aim normally but the laser isn't there, I have to switch weapons for it to show up again (I play on the PS3). Still ammo+power wise Phalanx wins.

The laser is awesome, i have no clue why does it bother you guys so much, i think it is so much accurate and easy to aim than the usual crosshair. Phalanx o/

Weird. I haven't had that issue (play on 360 and PC). There is a slight delay before it shows up though, which I find extremely annoying because I want to get aiming and shooting as close to each other as possible.
