EA is the only group that can help you reclaim an activation, unless you have the old computer it is on allowing you to reclaim and uninstall ME. So get on EA.com support try the live chat option and see what can be done for you.
And personally, no it wasn't a smart decision by EA to have this kind of copy protection.

All this annoying DRM and what have we, will never stop the those who obtain the games illegally, so stop it already! When I buy a game I want to be able to play it when I want, where I want, on what rig I want, with or without internet-connection, and without snooping spyware logging "how" I play the game.
Get out of my computer, and stop giving me hassle when I legally buy your product!!!!!

@Ezohiguma: The safety and security of your data falls directly onto your shoulders, and noone elses. Once you were granted the product key, it was up to you to write it down or store it in some other secure location. EA/Bioware were under no obligation to keep the old sites up in perpetuity, just because you couldnt be bothered writing down 25 digits, or even copy/paste them into a text document on your desktop, or even email it to yourself.

@TMZuk: What exactly was the point of your rant? EA had already learnt their lessons and steered away from SecureROM and limited product activations for ME2 and other games. All they do now is product code and a single-shot online authentication method, which is hardly spyware or snooping.
Take a look at ReclaimYourGame and see what they think about EA's claim that they are not using SecuROM. That aside, my rant was about the general trend amongst not only EA, but all the major developers, using all manners of DRM and online autentification, which serves no purpose what so ever, aside from irritating lawabiding customers.
Making an internet connection mandatory is wrong for more than one reason. It creates suspicion what excactly is happening during this authentification, it demands you have an internet connection to play a single-player game, and worst of all: It infringes on my right to privacy! If I buy a game, I should be able to play it, without any authentification. I bought the disc, and nothing else should be needed!

Am I complaining? Nope. Why would I? It's an addon I install once every three years, max. I'll simply get a new key. So shove your white-knighting where the sun doesn't shine because I don't give a damn.

The fun really starts when you registered the game years ago, now have a new rig and try to install the addon only to realize... "Oh, all the data is gone, I can't access the key anymore because that part of the website is gone." Woohoo.
so I can't play the bring down the sky at all?

There is a thread stickied at the very top of the forum telling you what you must do in order to get it. Try reading that.
