I'm thinking it will be something like how Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne ended.

Further elaboration for those who don't know or don't get what I'm getting at. The book didn't end with Maric slaying Meghren and winning the war but with Maric killing Severan, Meghran's right hand, then skipping 12 years later to Mother Allis telling Cailan the story and explaining what happened afterward(three more years of war, ending with Meghran being killed in a personal duel with Maric).

So I'm thinking since Mass Effect 3 will start with the war beginning, it will end with a big battle and destruction of one of the head reapers, probably Harbinger since he was a major antagonist in ME2 and was at the head of the invading fleet. Then there will probably be a timeskip to several years or decades later with someone telling that after that the galaxy suffered a very long and bloody war but in the end the reapers were wiped out and Shepard is now immortalized as the savior of the galaxy.(Maybe Shepard telling his/her grandkids the story).

How about we just blow up all the Reapers and then all the races get drunk together at the Citadel?

Has any Bioware title ever ended like that?

I do notice a bit of reused/rehashed concepts between some of Bioware's titles. Its certainly possible that something Dragon Age related could be adapted into ME3.

Abominations(possessed mages that blow up when they die) = Abominations(husks that explode when they die.)
Hawke = Shepard
Alistair & Anora = Anderson & Udina (Both pairs have one good moralistic candidate and the other ruthless and ambitious, but both are great leaders)
Collectors kidnap humans to build reaper = Darkspawn kidnap women to create broodmothers and breed more darkspawn
Indoctrination = Mind Domination

Imagine going back to your day-job after defeating these massive sentient machines. I'm expecting Shepard to disappear and become some sort of mythical figure (much like Paul Atreides in Dune Messiah/Children Of Dune) or give up his life to defeat the Reapers.

It's not like anything else will be exciting for him after the events of ME3 really. A happy ending would be nice for a change, though.
