I had found that the way the .bat file was written, that the installer had to be in a sub-directory to work properly.
IF NOT EXIST ..nwmain.exe GOTO NONWN
that line in the .bat seems to need to have the ".." removed in order to actually run in the main nwn directory.
No, it doesn't. It is designed to run from the \\NeverwinterNights\\NWN\\Q_Updater sub folder. Which you are supposed to create, then extract the qupdate files inside of that folder.
THe reason is that they wanted to keep the "Q" files, in a separate folder to help keep the main nwn folder cleaner.
In otherwords, it works exactly as it was designed to work.

The new waypoints are handy while building. I like that they are round because it strongly differentiates them from the triangular WPs.
I haven't been able to check out lisa holdables yet. I'll let you now what I think of their integration when I can. I distinctly recall that they were one of the things I asked for when I first showed up on your forum.
That revenant is nice. So is Tom Banjo's roman temple. I asked him on the vault if he was going to merge that with the TNO because it fits with it. It also fits well with six's TNOizification of the city tileset btw.
I like discovering all these surprises you've so generously shared with us. I look forward to stumbling upon more as I keep building this week. Thanks.

/Q_Updater directory
/logs directory
/q directory
cygpopt-0.dll
cygwin1.dll
erf.exe
executable.set
q_update.bat
rsync.exe
All I've got in my archive is q_update.bat and executable.set, so I assume that's why it's not working. Have tried the hak link a few times, but the download keeps finishing prematurely. Guess I'll leave things to settle and come back in a bit. Thanks to all those posting helpful advice.

We'll get there eventually.
On the plus side, this means we're going to be pretty well set up for releasing v1.5. Changing servers was always going to be a pain.

This is going to sound rude, but you confirmed everything I posted in a post you started with "No, it doesn't." . I stated that it needed to be run from a sub-directory, yes? In order to run it from the NWN directory, you would have to remove the ".." from the bat, also correct, yes?
I don't mind the elaboration, but don't say I'm wrong when I'm not. My post was 100% correct.

Not really, your post leads folks to think they need to make a change, when they absolutely should NOT.
If the files are installed correctly, they will not have a problem, but if they edit the batch, after installing correctly, they WILL have a problem.
If they are not installed correctlly, and edit the batch, they will still likely have a problem.
So basically, your post just causes immense confusion, without solving a problem that does not exist in the first place.

The post immediately prior to mine, last one on page 1:
Estelindis wrote...
Looking forward to the hak download myself, as the updater thinks it isn't in my NWN install folder along with nwmain.exe even though it totally is. It looks like a great new release and I will enjoy messing around with it as soon as I get my hands on it. :-)
I'd thought her post was due to a desire to run the updater from the main directory. While I still should have quoted Estelindis' post in my original one, I didn't know my response to that post was going to end up on the next page. While my post wasn't the best suggestion, since it's not how you've since pointed out the updater is intended to be used.
Regardless, this is detracting from what is a generally quality release, and I'll edit that initial post so as to avoid any possible confusion.

The version of the updater that was uploaded to the Q Site was NOT a standalone package - like what was available on the Vault. It was designed to be installed to an existing Q_updater directory and overwrite the old q_update.bat and the old executable.set files.
The correct updater package - with ALL the necessary files - has been sent to the Q Web Administrator and will be uploaded shortly. Furthermore, I have also removed the erroneous wrapper folder that was causing issues with the original Vault package. The contents of that archive will now be able to be installed directly to the /NWN directory.
IF YOU HAVE THE VAULT UPDATER
You need to take the folder named /Q_updater and move it from /Q_Updater_v14 (the wrapper) to the /NWN folder.
Once again, we - the Q Team - sincerely apologize for any inconvenience these issues with the updater are causing. Until the updater is sorted please download the full HAK package...

And yes, Bard and Bannor, it seems my post was the source of the confusion between the two of you, for which I apologise.
