 ok so a lot of people bash Dragon Age 2 so I thought I'd list some FACTS to the haters around here:

1.Dragon Age 2 has EXAGGERATED sword models compared to Origins. WRONG! Modders have proven that sword sizes are the same except Hayden's Razor.

2. Alistair looks swollen because the modelers are incompetent. WRONG! Alistair's face looks much better in proper lightning... the problem is the shader.

3. Crafting system was simplified. FACT: most crafting abilities have just been made differently by being accessed at Hawke's home and finding different ingredients.

4. Combat has been simplified and made less tactical. FACT: combat has been made more fluid and responsive but still retains many tactical elements from Origins.

5. BioWare  forums prove that most fans hate Dragon Age 2. FACT: the forums are the central point of BioWare flaming right now. it's not an accurate representation of what the fans think of dragon age 2.

6. Dragon Age 2's plot is far worse than that of Origins. FACT: While it's subjective to declare which game had the better story, Dragon Age: Origins 'borrows' many cliches and tropes from generic fantasy settings and LOTR.

As to your specific point #6, there are pretty much universal themes which are common to most fantastic story-telling. Tolkien himself said that. His essay "On Fairy Stories" is still in print, if you want to read more.

Meantime, I'll allow this topic to continue... but I encourage EVERYONE to be respectful.

Dissing Origins is not going to get people to agree with you and you conveniently forget that no game is perfect.

Origin and DA:2 are both flawed games but here is a reminder of the awards Origins did win...since you have forgotten...

1) So the sequal didn't address the problem of its predecessor

2) Yeah, because quasimodo looks better outside the bell tower

3)fits in with the removal of talents such as coercion, intimidation, simplification

4) some of the pathing issues have been fixed, but as has been stated elsewhere the animations for certain
actions are locked in one cannot interupt them. Yet, now combat has reached unrealistic levels of speed
-The animations are all over the place
-Tactics and stategic placing goes out the window when the enemy spawns behind you 
-Inflating Hp bars does not count as increasing tactical dificulty it becomes tedious
-Bottle necks and AoE means the player simply has to hammer through waves of enemies and spam Aoe spells to clear the area it's boring.
(there are more, but  I don't want to waste my time listing them all)

5) No, the poor sales, reduction in prices, PR defences, packaged with other games and the general ill feelin across the net show a lot of people disliked it.

6)You should really read the other thread regarding DAO being overated and DA2 being underated, your alter ego txgoldrush was hamered on this point and has been largely discredited as incoherrent, ill informed loon on all his other points.

Hmmm... I see nothing in the original post "dissing Origins".

Point taken but  OP did it in another thread as I recall and dismissing everything about  it while trying to make his point about  DA:2 is not going help his case. There are flaws in every game.

There are some fantastic game elements in DA:2 that I hope will be retained in a future game but there are some horrible elements as well.

There is no crafting in this game. It's nothing but shop at home. But you don't actually make anything yourself, and you can't make anything on the go or in the field. All the game does is let you shop in your house and not have to actually go to vendors.

If they gave you a workbench in your house it would be crafting. But since they don't it's just shop at home with instant delivery.

I'm pretty sure it is. Go on any popular game review site or message board and you'll see that no matter where you go, fans have the same exact complaints.

Examples:
metacritic
gamespot
IGN boards

And when you look at company reviews of the game, the (unmonitored) comment sections of the reviews are almost always packed with the same complaints.

Also, most of your points don't even make any sense. Alistair looks different because of the "shader," huh? Is that why Zevran looks different, too? Interesting.

Unless, of course,  you might like to say...type in some facts and opions (keep in mind they aren't the same thing) about how DA2 delivered for you (you being the operative word there, as in not for everyone, and people may disagree).

I hope this helps in how to have a civil and constructive debate. If not, like I said, there are villagers' gardens in need of rescuing as only you can.

On topic, one could rightly call each main quest in Origins a short story just as much as the 3 acts in DA2 are.
