Doesn't love how some game Lore changed to allow for the simplified character creator.

Um.....

what?

Specialisations no longer related to plot points, maybe?

It Could also be that no seems to even Freaking Care that you are a Mage, or even a Blood Mage.

Flame bait is in the air.......

And I love DAII and am all for supporting it. But baiting those who dislike it is not the way.

Who in DAO cares if you are a Blood Mage? The only content where it was actually an issue was CUT.

DA2 would've been better with a gorilla companion wearing silverite chainmail.

Sorry, I can't stop thinking about how much I want a gorilla companion in a DA game.

On topic, one could rightly call each main quest in Origins a short story just as much as the 3 acts in DA2 are.

Lack of class/character recognition is a (big) problem in both games. It's just more obvious in Dragon Age 2 because the plot reolves around it (if you're a Mage).

Hahaha, screw Silverite. Gorilla wearing a Lorica Segmentata ftw.

Well at least the title was changed, no more Facts for DA2 Haters.

Weekends are the most entertaining here...or frustrating depending on mood.

That has nothing to do with lore being changed though, which still leaves me confused at that person's comment Image IPB

I mean, I'm sad and mad and something else that ends in -ad but isn't glad that mages, especially blood mages, don't get any sort of recognition beyond Cullen saying in Act 3 "Oh you're a mage. You can see Meredith" and Meredith acknowledging it.

By Act 3 everyone knows Hawke is a mage, so that just didn't cut it.

As for specializations no longer being in the story like Blood mage was in the Arl of Redcliffe storyline or Arcane Warrior in the Brecilian Forest, well that can be easily explained, sort of.

DA2 reused specializations. The only new one was Force Mage.

You get recognized in DA:O.  The Templar in Lothering recognizes you as a mage, but says he has more important things to worry about.  When you first walk up to Lothering even the bandit on the bridge says look at this group, and they're lead by a mage.

They're a lot of other places too.  Origins did a much better job, and it wasn't even part of the main plot.

Perhaps they meant like no more DW or Archery for warriors, or only human as choice...who knows?

@OP: What are you doing? Stating opinions as "FACTS" and needlessly dissing DAO aren't the way to have anyone agree with you. Even those who actually like DA2.

(Now if your goal is to attract more hater, I think success is on the horizon).

What does this have to do with the "simplified" CC, though?

@Ethereal: Again with the gorilla in silverite armor? Does s/he still have to be elf-carried?

If it's the former, then I understand that. I miss having warriors use a bow. But for the latter, people need to realize that the story Bioware had in mind for DA2 worked best for a human only.

In theory anyway. In practice, it seems like any race would've worked more or less because of how the game was rushed.

That doesn't mean though that Bioware has abandoned Origin stories. David Gaider said they haven't

Not as much as I would have liked personally. Other than a few different lines of dialogue, race / class / spec are not that recognized, if at all.

Though certainly in DA2 that's much more apparent (and as such a much more glaring flaw), when it's supposedely centered around the whole conflict.

ummm...
did i mention DAO?
NO.
also, in DAO at least it was more tolerable cause it wasn't until Redcliffe and the Landsmeet section where you actually engaged in entirely in conversations with people who might actually care, the content from the Circle Tower was cut, don't know, but i can put it back with mods, also, as a Grey Warden, you have more freedom for this kind of things.
In Da2 you're in a city full of TEMPLARS 90% of the time, does somebody care? no, and it's eve more stupid cause there is a section in Act 3 in which you basically sell out Anders by telling Cullen he is planning something against the Chantry, and what does Cullen does? well he's like "huuuuuhhh.... Whatever"..... What?

then again, i didn't compared it to Origins and i didn't said that it didn't do it.

If he's the lead gorilla in the band, he'll order the elves to carry him! Or they'll face his gorilla strength!

The only diffrence in the CC is the lack of races, that's it. Nice try.

I doubt it's going to have dwarves and elves as main PCs.
They probably saw that most went for humans in DA:O and thought that having additional races was a waste of resources.

Anyhow, that does not exclude the possibility of origin stories, even if all human. At least 2 (mage / non-mage). But seeing EA's strategy of cutting costs and producing short term profit as quickly as possible, I doubt they are going to devote resources to make real Origin stories that actually matter beyond a few lines of dialogue.

7. DA2 sucks, the story is recycled from the DA:O Circle tower, combat is recycled from Dynasty Warriors, Hawke is the lamest character in the history of fiction, the game is ugly, Kirkwall is two empty streets, the whole game is 50 fetch quests in The Cave or on The Coast, and the ending gives cheap cliffhangers a bad name. WRONG! These are all innovations.

True, but if EA does not want to waste resources, it sadly won't happen :crying:

Well in Origins I would like to have seen things like more disrespect if you were an elf in some places.  But it did do a better job of changing NPCs dialogue.

Like the bandit I mentioned before he'll say they're lead by and elf.  Or the guard outside the Dalish camp will call you a Shemlan, or welcome you as a Dalish. or even recognize you as a city elf and not a Dalish elf.

It's the same as making living areas.  Like Ostagar was not a very living world area but at least some attempt was made, just like they made some attempts with recognition in DA:O.  Wasn't great but at least they put forth some effort.
