When you go full on Renegade, the pattern in Shep's eyes is nearly identical to the Illusive Man's.  We know that the reason TIM has his eyes is because he was exposed to reaper tech, so it would obviously be an issue of concern if Shep has the same problem.

I'm mainly thinking about whether or not you got the surgery to remove the scars in ME2 will have any bearing on this.  I.e., if you don't, you're prone to indoctrination, and vice versa.

Thoughts?

No. you're thinking too deeply (surprising for this forum, I may add)

The glowing eyes were added to appeal to the youngins'.

I highly doubt it. Ultimately it seems that the scars were there for cosmetic, 'look I'm a jerkass' reasons.

Maybe cerberus threw in a few extra parts when they were putting you back together. Maybe thats the reason the Illusive man put you back together.

But really i agree with King Zeel it think it just so people go, ohhhh shiny eyes.

It's fable syndrome the more evil you get the more glowing you become in fables case you got horns shep just looks awful! I hate that terminator look I hope it's done away with for 3 what you couldn't tell shep was evil with the ren meter?

I mean if they're going to have him look like that at least make everyone scream and run away.

Well, you're not supposed to have glowing red eyes.

Then again, your face isn't supposed to be covered in the Cracks of Doom, either, so what is this I don't even.

it rly pissed me off in me2. Cant be badass w/o looking like a retarded glowing red lamp and to remedy that you needed to use ressource that had to be gathered by that stupid gimmick of a game called planet scanning.

Hope they do away with it in m3 or make paragon's face glow so much that id blind you to make it even.

Eh, I wouldn't be surprised if that ended up as a plot twist. I'd imagine it would be a shock for a lot of folks to find out that the cosmetic "flashy things" were actually reaper nanobots swimming around in your body.

It would also explain why its never explained well in ME2, due to the possibility of Bioware saving it for a plot twist in the next game. Same deal with the Lazarus project as a whole.

Would make sense, especially considering how Shepard was "hacked" in overlord DLC. Who knows, maybe Cerberus is hunting down Shepard for the same reason they hunted down Greyson in Retribution; to stop a potential Reaper Avatar from wrecking the galaxy.

The scarring is the result of cybernetic implants, as told by Doctor Chakwas.

"From: Chief Medical Officer Chakwas

Commander,

I've done further investigation regarding your facial scaring, and the
old adage of "mind over matter" holds true. Negative attitudes and
aggressive acts create adverse reactions with your cybernetic implants,
while peaceful thoughts and compassionate actions promote healing. If
you maintain a positive outlook, I believe your facial scarring will
heal on its own. Otherwise, there is surgical equipment we could use to
insulate your cybernetic implants and accelerate your healing regardless
of your mental outlook.

I've updated plans for the new medical equipment to your research terminal in the tech lab.

Sincerely,

Chakwas"

Well, I like having glowing eyes of doom. Perhaps they can let you change implant color also. blue would be interesting, or a nice rainbow effect lol!

I think they should give you the option of getting rid of the cybernetic scars without having to throw away resources, that way everyone is happy.

Having a plot twist where the Lazarus Project cybernetics turn out to have Reaper origins would help the resurrection sub-plot make sense, so I'm all for it!

The healing and scarring is completely cosmetic. Regardless of your paragon/renegade status Shepard is a cyborg.  Maybe they're reaper tech, who knows could end up being the trick needed to defeat the reapers. I kinda like the idea that Shepard must implant him/herself with more reaper technology (kinda becoming like Saren) in order to destroy them. Its just speculation at this point though.

I think that the technology used to revive shep was reaper tech, but not true reaper tech. more like copied reaper tech like the alliance did with the protean tech (thay found the tech and they just reproduced it), that would explain why it had those effects on shep, also I was thinking that the omega relay wasn´t built by the reapers, the proteans made it with reaoer tech, that would explain the red glow of the relay

Speaking of Shepard's eyes. I know that some of you out there has used a mod to replace Shepard's eyes with that of The Illusive Man's cybernetic eyes. I'm wondering if that will be transferred over providing Shep and the gang survived the events in mass effect 2 or will he/she retain the normal eyes?

The glowing eyes mean nothing more than the fact Shep's mutant abilities are coming to the surface, he is the next Cyclops.

Evolution Spoilers

Tim got huskified that's why his eyes are like that. One can assume they used similar tech to rebuild Shepard since his eyes look the same. And we all know Husk have reaper origins so it's likely that Shepard is half reaper. Oh and it's red instead of blue because grimdarkangst.

they aren't identical. Shepard's eyes just glow and look like a telescoping lens head on, while the illiusive man's have visible circuitry and patterns and are blue.

...which is why I transplanted them onto my character with the save editor and changed the color to slightly glowing red. Posted Image

That's what i was asking if those mod eyes will be transferred over to ME3 providing Shep and the gang survived the events in mass effect 2 or will he/she retain the normal eyes?

Instead of the glowing eyes and facial scars, the more evil you became the better your pencil thin Snidely Whiplash mustache should have been. I mean seriously how can you be evil and not have the Snidely or at the very least a goatee. Aren't those hallmarks of the bad guy?

If you pay close attention to the comic, the same thing happened to Saren near the end. That most likely explains why he had the same eyes as TIM in ME1, as well as how he managed to find Soverign in the first place.
