You all know there are alot of people that post plot holes that arnt really plot holes but just opinions on how shepard would react in real life.Well this plot hole is different in my opinion.
When you go to get the reaper iff in mass effect 2 you go to a "dead" reaper and obtain the IFF, this makes no sense because in the plot it ways after the reapers wipeout a civilivation they remove all signs that they were there so the next space faring civilivation cant obtain knoledge about the reapers. Well im pretty sure leaving a dead reaper is a pretty huge sign that they exist. Thats the first thing that they would clean up since they hardly ever have casualties.

It would have fit better in the plot if shepard and his team had to infiltrate a base that was holding the remains of soverign and they could obtain the IFF that way. Well thats my 2 cents:bandit:

It was trapped in the gravity well of a whatdoyoucallit and Cerberus was only able to find it because they were looking for it.

I'd say the Reapers missed it or just assumed it's mass effect fields had failed and it was going to be crushed in the gravity well.

'' Thats the first thing that they would clean up since they hardly ever have casualties.''

you answered your question yourself. they usually don't have casualties, that means they don't have any kind of ''proofs eradication'' plans.

I remember posting a thread about this plot hole.. Must have been like a year ago at least.

Edit - yep, defiinitely over a year ago as its gone from my last posted threads list.  Cant remember what it was called in order to search for it either :(

On the same note. What about all of the Reaper indoctrination devices found? One of the Reapers main weapons just lying around waiting to be discovered. Allowing the races of the galaxy to find a way to counter it.
Then again, that may be exactly what they are looking for. A race to break the mold and end the cycles. :)

Huge railgun takes potshot at Reaper fleet. One Reaper hit, critical systems damaged, loses control, and starts to plunge into the brown dwarf. Rest of the Reaper fleet leaves after taking out aforementioned shooter, leaving the disabled Reaper to its fate.
Disabled Reaper manages to get its mass effect generator back online long enough to halt its plunge, but the cost of doing so fries the rest of its circuits, rendering it brain dead and comatose.

No plot hole, just some imagination and deductive reasoning required.

i dont think the reapers would miss something major like that im pretty sure they would notice one of their own missing , and if it is crushed by gravity and lands on the planet thats still evidence they existed since something that size and with its strength would be able to survive a planets atmosphere
edit : oh ya it was a dwarf not a planet ok it makes sense now the reapers probly thought the problem would solve its self thanks guys i can put that at ease now :o

If anything, all it really points out is that the Reapers are not infallible.

It also points out were going to need bigger guns.

I think this should be a required post on half of the threads on the BSN.

That said, I would suggest that since Reaper casualties are a rarity, they do not have a plan for cleaning up after said casualties. Perhaps they figured that attempting to recover one of their kind (who may or may not have been obliterated by the gravity of a brown dwarf) was simply not worth the effort.

or maybe, as it was with Nazara (I totally forgot how to spell Soverwhatever) he was a sentinel checking the galaxy before the reapers showed up again, found something it didn't like and attacked the planet, and in their last attempt for vengeance they shot it with a cannon and "Killed" it,

Actually, looking at the system itself. Thorne System. There is one planet and that has only one moon. That implies the weapon that fired the shot is on that moon. TIM states they found that weapon. I wonder why the Reapers did not completely demolish it, leaving nothing but rusting iron vapor.

I kind of want to back stab Tali in ME3, act like I'm all for quarian and geth peace then *BAM* and over her cold lifeless corpse I recite my vows. .Peace is a lie, there is only passion.Through passion, I gain strength.Through strength, I gain power.Through power, I gain victory.Through victory, my chains are broken. The Force  Ezero shall free me.
