I checked a few pages back in both the character and general discussion forums and didn't see any current threads on TIM. I was curious if anyone had any thoughts on why he's working for the reapers now. My theory, is that TIM isn't indoctrinated... I think TIM IS a reaper and always has been. Similiar to the way a reaper took over Saren's body, but since no wires on TIM are visible, I think maybe he was a body created solely to host a reaper conscience.

It adds up in that both Cerberus and the Collectors performed various experiments on humans and aliens alike (though mostly humans). There are two occasions where TIM sends Shepard into a situation where his body would be easily retrievable for the Reapers. The first being when he sends Shepard to the collector ship, claiming that it's disabled; a trap. The second of course being when Shepard is sent to storm the Collector Base. I don't think TIM expected Shepard to survive that mission, and it's continuously referred to as a suicide mission.

This theory does have a pretty large hole in that Cerberus had Shepard's remains and didn't turn them over to the collectors. Maybe they did? Or maybe they wanted to see what Shepard was truly capable of before turning him into a reaper?

Input from anyone?

Interesting theory but that hole is a little too large for me, sorry.

My theory is that TIM isnt working for the reapers even though Cerberus are. The only reason i can think of that he would is if he was indoctrinated, but IMO he's just too illusive and intelligent to put himself in the position to be indoctrinated.

Maybe his position will depend on the collector base; keep it and he will work with you, destroy it and he will lose faith in your ability to do what needs to be done to stop the reapers. Alternatively keeping the base may be what leads to him getting indoctrinated while destroying it will result in him avoiding indoctrination.

I'd prefer it like this because he's too much of an interesting character to just become mindlessly evil, plus it would give Cerberus fans the choice to continue working with TIM.

I hope they don't do anything like this. it would be a complete 180 in terms of plot progression and would NOT fit what we know about him at all.

Anyone read the Mass Effect Evolution-comic? Please do. TIM gets some Reaper technology in him there, so he might have been indoctrinated/controlled by the Reapers ever since he became TIM. And he resurrected Shepard just for sport (for the Reapers, who knows how wicked they are?) or because Jack Harper (TIM's real name) could control the indoctrination for a while to make sure Shepard could be resurrected and save the galaxy.

yea, i also beleive maybe that TIM is 'semi-indoctrinated'. the reapers made him retreive shepard's body, but TIM hid him away and rebuilt him to save the galaxy, then the reapers made TIM send shepard into 'dangerous' situations where the colecters could retreive his remains. so its like the indoctrination was fliping on and off with TIM, or something like that :/

Or you know, he went to the Collector base (be it whole or all blowed up) and got his hands on things man was not meant to know, and did it to himself on accident.

Also another thing nobody considers, what if the Reapers went after TIM?  Think about it, Cerberus brought Shepard back after the Reapers killed him, Cerberus provided the badass ship that made short work of the Collector Ship, Cerberus provided several operatives and provided the location of several more that Shepard used to blow up the Collector Base (or steal it I guess).  If I were the Reapers I would go after Cerberus first.  Shepard was only barely able to take out one Reaper vessel when he was allied with the Systems Alliance in ME1.  But in ME2 he just nuked the crap out of a superior force.  If I were the Reapers I would want those guys on my side, and then send them after Shepard.

My guess is - Cerberus got indoctrinated, TIM had not...(he already was in direct contact with Reaper Beacon and didn't turn into a Husk) and Cerberus uses "TIM" as figure behind them, but real TIM is being held captive and we get the chance to free him. While TIM does work on our side, he can betray/do things his way behind our backs, when Reaper conflict climax reaches it's boiling point....

That would be really cool actually! And a neat bit of drama, do you use TIM's crazy ability to make things he wants happen and let him go and disappear into the universe again but defeat the reapers. Or do you not trust him and kill him/lock him up for what he has done.

For awhile when I was playing ME2 I got this vibe that he was secretly an agent for the Shadow Broker...

there is that one line of dialog where you question information he received and then he says something like information is his game.(can't remember the wording)

I just think TIM just has a deal with the Reaper in which the Reaper will spare some part of humanity if Cerberus helps them take down Shepard.

I'm not sure that TIM would be so gullible as to believe the reapers if they told him they would spare part of humanity. The reapers don't have a history of sparing anything. I could maybe see the reapers promising him that he would be the "leader" in a reaper body or something.
