But...the Wii has, in it's own way, revolutionized gaming, increased the size of the gaming market dramatically, and is easily the most profitable console Nintendo have ever made (and certainly the absolute winner in terms of profit compared to the 360 and PS3)
So, even though the Wii U controller looks a bit weird, I have some level of faith this time around that somehow, it will work beautifully, and sell incredibly.
At very least, I'm glad it will be properly able to handle shooter and action games unlike the Wii - no matter how hard they tried, all shooters with Wiimote aiming were terrible. It's about time Nintendo attempted to catch up with the more hardcore gaming market anyway.

Before the Wii came out everyone was making fun of it and many publishers were having a wait and see attitude to it. Then within the week of release it was getting praise, selling out non stop and publishers were doing everything they can (and by everything I mean quickly porting PS2 games) to get product onto it. Hell many of the concepts from the Wii have been integrated into PS3 and XBox using newer technology.
I'm betting that the controller will get some tweaking done to it before final release (the only consistant thing I have heard is that it does get uncomfortable for people with large hands however is that due to design or due to using a new device).
Again though it comes down to each persons personal opinion on the subject and the best way to form that is to try the system for yourself. I do hope Nintendo has plenty of demo kiosks available.

And I hated the wii, and all motion controllers. I really hate the Kinect. Personally, I don't enjoy flailing around like a retard winning the special Olympics.

Anything thats not PC:
You should at least be honest Slim.
We all know your stance on anything console related.
I'd say more but that picture sums up your lame attempts at trolling nicely.

How many Zelda games are there? How many Mario games? Are they going to do this for the next 10 yrs? Sorry, I've officially grown out of Nintendo and their silly hardware gimmicks. It's been there from the very begining. Remember that robot and the gun for Duck Hunt? I was just a kid, and I thought it was pointless back then.
@Rockworm. You bet I hate consoles, and Nintendo is one reason why.

You were never a kid. You were born with a complete hatred for anything that doesn't use a mouse and keyboard.
Your first words were "shoddy port"

Naturally, I'll never buy another console as it's like saying 'Yes! create more antiquated software for us to enjoy!'

Give it up, Nintendo - the best games are coming out on Xbox 360 (and PC and PS3 to a far lesser extent). No amount of bizarre, clunky motion control technology is going to change that, and certainly won't sell anyone on giving up all of those games for your pretentious new system.

On topic: The Wii U looks uncomfortable to hold. I wish Nintendo would stop making gimmicky junk.

My 10 year old self would have been jealous.
I was a faithful monthly subscriber to Nintendo Power and I desperately coveted that duck hunt gun (as well as the power glove).
But I probably spent more time playing Zork and Master of Orion on the Commodore 64.
