Hello again, gents! I have been having this little issue since I installed DA:O on my lappy, but it didn't bother me that much until I made a character that looked just the way I wanted him to, but am unable to use that as my profile pic here. I constantly get the message "Image IPB Unable to connect to the online storage server." I even tried the DA:O Character Creator, and I get a similar message there. What exactly is the deal? I did a quick Google search and learned little, other than other's having a similar problem. I heard that having the console enabled is a problem, so I disabled that, and in the DA:O launcher, I told it to make a port exception in the firewall. I have heard that it has jack-monkey-poop to do with the router/ISP/whatever, but I figured that it couldn't hurt to make sure the port is open.

So is there any way around this? Or am I just stuck with the 360 and PS3 profile pics? I'd like to have my screenshots avialable, as well, although it's not as big of a deal. Thanks!

I have been getting this for days. It seems to have nothing to do with your game install as far as I can tell because all I did was go on there to clean off old characters in the DA:O. I wanted to start a new game on a whole new install of DA:O, but when I went to Manage Characters and tried to Delete any of them I get that same error as you. So I went to the Profile Diagnostics page and same error as you. Basically any of the 4 sections under Dragon Age Origins in My Games on my profile all give the "Unable to connect to the online storage server"

I thought maybe the server was down for a bit and kept trying but its been a few days now. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the old Bioware server that was hacked? I know I got an email from them that they probably stold my old NWN keys and stuff. :P

FYI, there is a forum specifically for questions about the social site, and yes, BW is currently making some changes to those servers so they may be up and down. (At the moment, they seem to be down)  That said, have either of you tried the solutions in the FAQ?  If you go to "My Games" under your profile picture and click on  the DAO-PC link it will bring up your character page.  Click on "Profile Diagnostics".  This will help you trouble shoot your online profile.  Sometimes characters and screenshots that you have cleared out of your profile on here do not clear out of the main server correctly and fill your storage space so that it stops updating.  You can manually clear those files under profile diagnostics.  Finally, the social site prioritizes profile updates based on profile views.  It can sometimes take days to update, even if you are checking your profile regularly.  There are millions of players with data that uploads to those servers from multiple different games.  Overloaded profiles (those with >150 character profiles for DA2) were actually causing login failure for some people with DA2, so BW is culling extra characters and implementing other changes to the servers in order to fix the problems.

Ah. I had looked in the wrong place for the answers, it seems. It has been doing that for weeks now for me, but uploaded my 360 and PS3 characters just fine, so I'd figured it was something wrong on my end with my PC or install.

>150 characters?!?!?! Damn, I know I like making characters, but THAT is overboard, LOL!

Also, do the characters made in the character builder program upload to the same place, or do I have to import them into Origins? Thanks!

-And sami jo, I tried that, but that was one of the places I was getting that error.

-And also, I have like six or seven characters made on here, some pretty far along, with no upload yet. I dunno if that helps or not, but I think that might help along with the placement in the queue, right? Thanks again for all of the help, it's much appreciated.

--UPDATE-- I have told McAffee (cursed bloatware...) to open the ports 80, 443, and 18081 as the FAQ says (can't believe I missed that, I poured over that thing like three or four times looking for answers last night, must've been too tired). I will see how this works. I really hope that this is the main issue.

And to help speed things along, could some fine ladies and gentlemen give my profile a few views? It would help boost me along. Thank you kindly!

Oh, and RaenImrahl, if you want to move this topic to the other thread, I will not be opposed. Thanks!

--UPDATE 2 (trying to avoid pentuple posts)--

The port enabling doesn't seem to help, at least at the moment. The Character Creator tells me that it is unable to upload and also states that my login information may be invalid, which it's not. I hope this issue gets taken care of soon. Of course, if it doesn't, it won't kill me.

sami jo I read the FAQ several times and I have none of those issues. I have used the character diagnostics in the past to fix stuff as well but now you can't use any of the 4 DA:O tabs without getting the " Unable to connect to the online storage server." at the top of each one. You can't even view your online screenshots to delete them.

I have tried both IE9 and Mozilla Firefox and same result so it seems to be on BW side of the house. I can't see why anything in the PC install would cause me to not even be able to access character diagnostics or delete characters on the BW website.

Sorry this is posted in the wrong section maybe the forum mod can move it to the right forum for better exporsure to those having simuliar issues?

Thanks!

THIS. Same thing for me. Really, I don't mind if yous guys move it. Thanks!

--UPDATE--

The error seems to be gone. Now to just let the chracters (hopefully) upload to the site and I'm good to go, I think.

Just for future reference, is there a way to increase the size of online storage? Thanks again!

I'm going ahead and doing a DREADED double post, but I should probably mention that my Achievements uploaded perfectly. But still no characters. I had enabled the console through the editing of the XML doc, but I have since disabled it in the very same manner. That should help, right? I've been viewing my profile page several times in order to crank up the number of views.

This is a Steam copy of Ultimate Edition, by the way.

And I'd like to point out that I've never had any issues with the 360/PS3 copies (damnit, BioWare, I hope you like all of the money I throw at you!).

--UPDATE-- by means of searching like a madman, I stumbled upon some FAQs that I hadn't seen before, and so far I THINK it might be the fix I needed. Forcing all exe's in the main folder to Run as Admin, leaving Task Manager open to make sure the uploader service was working (it wasn't, now it is), and all that. Yay. Still nothing updated, but that was like ten minutes ago, so I'll be patient.

Alright, so I waited for a while, changed equipment and saved and all that, but still, nothing. All ports open, even went as far as to disable the firewall completely, and nothing. I then decided to see if I could upload a screenshot, and here's what happened:

Image IPB

So, something is clearly wrong. All programs running are running as Admin. I'm beginning to wonder if it's on the server side, not the client side. I don't have this issue at all with my PS3 or Xbox 360, linked to the same account. Any light on the issue would be pure gravy, and thanks again!

PS - I had this same exact issue with the Character Creator when I went to upload.
