Some form of heroic death is how I always imagined it ending. Or if not heroic, then required.

But given that DLC, overpriced as it still is, is a decent money earner, then keeping Shepard alive will be the more likely outcome. Perhaps sacrifice of your chosen romance option, or your closest team mates may be more likely. I wiped out Ashley after doing her in the first one, so I have no issue in the closest characters being killed, it serves the story better in my opinion.

That statement would be just as flawed. Not everyone who wants Shepard to live is just an overweight basement dweller who needs a video game character to feel bad ass.

I just lol'd at the overweight remark. and I enjoy venting aggression in a videogame, since I don't have a proper outlet till college this fall. MMA club ftw.

As long as it's not the Paragon choice.

I'm looking at you Bioshock

If you are refering to Bioshock 1, then whatisthisidonteven, Jack lived till he was old.
If you are refering to Bioshock 2, well yeah you didn't have a choice since you were dying anyway, but I doubt you could have a normal life with your daughter, being an adam addict and wearing the suit and all.

I dunno, heroic sacrifices seem quite lame lately.

Some people think it works better storywise, but I get the feeling they never had a super mutant immune to radiation standing right next to them tell you that YOU have to go inside the Unavoidable Cutscene Radiation Deathchamber because doing it for you would interfere with your destiny even though he did the exact same thing for you three hours ago.

If it was an option that would be ok, though i would never choose it.

I am almost certain that we will have such option, and I'd definitely choose it. Yes,it's a cliche, but I like it.

This. If only because we weren't able to properly do so in Dragon Age.

This also. Especially if we can have a "Spock's funeral" style ending.

Also, it should be a paragon decision, as I still think playing one needs more weight. Perhaps there should be four choices, though - two paragon, two renegade to satisfy the people who don't.

...That doesn't mean I am necessarily dead-set on seeing both my Shepard and all of yours being killed as the only option of saving the Galaxy. However, it would be a very powerful way to finally cement Shepard's role in the salvation of the Galaxy, at the cost of his own life.

I agree to some degree with this, I think it should be something like the ending of Halo 3, where if you beat the game on Legndary and watch after the credits, you get a secret cut scene, any other difficulty on Halo 3 makes you think that Master Chief (John) died, but legendary proves otherwise, ME3 should have something similiar, but only as one of the possible ending outcomes, the Insanity option is only unlocked after playing through the games harder difficulties, so it would make it a very satisfying ending as you will hav to play through the game more than once to unlock the secret ending, But the secret ending should be something really epic, like the Halo 3 ending, where you think he's dead but really he's not, something else happens.  I'm not saying that there should be another ME game(like the Halo 3 legendary ending protrays, and now Halo 4 is going to be released soon), cause unless ME3 absolutley sucks(which i don't think it will), another ME game would ruin the series, Look at the Halo series, Combat evovled( Halo 1), Halo 2 and Halo 3 were great games, ODST was ok but didn't really have to do with saving the galaxy and such, and Reach was kinda needed as the pre-story of Halo was kind of in the dark, but what is Halo 4 going to have to do with? I mean the Prophet is dead, the flood destroyed, and the what like third Halo ring is destroyed, i mean how many rings of ultimate destruction are out there? and who will be the enemies? the elites are friendly, the floods gone, and other species are useless without a leader, unless a new "Prophet" comes along or something, theres really nothing i can think of because the brutes are too stupid to know or do anything, and if there were ever a ME4, i would be in the same boat, i don't know what it would be about or how Bioware would even fit it into the story line. all i'm saying is that YES a heroic ending should be in the game but only as 1 of the possible endings and that some sort of secret, after the credits thing should happen.
