I received a group invitation, but following the pop up to my content Groups does *not* show which group the invitation came from?  A friend says the same.  As I understand, the invite should show up under my groups.

Is this a bug, or a temporary problem?  I tried the forum with 2 diff browsers same results:  google-chrome, firefox.

Any help would be appreciated.

Some people find it amusing to create a group, send out invites and then delete the group. This results in a "1 new update" remaining on your profile.

So its essentially a design bug with the forum features. One I hope Bioware can fix because its a pain to get rid of.

Try one these methods: http://social.biowar...6/index/3253717

Same thing happened with me this morning. I've tried the fixes Crash posted for some other update issues, but they've never worked for me. Fortunately they have all disappeared with time. I hope the same will happen for this phantom group invite.

I had an invite for a group called 'boobies' or something like that this morning but the group has been deleted (I think because it's not showing up) so I'm stuck with the orange update window. And sadly non of the methods worked for me.

What Captain Crash said. Those are called "Dead Updates", since it shows that you have a group invitation but the group is then deleted. It can happen several times, I have 4 dead updates. With the update BSN made a few days ago I got rid of another 4, I had 8.

Thanks all. I tried the suggestions referenced by the Cap'n (thanks!). Initially they didn't work. I read it as clicking on the popup bubble then in the small javascript window that opens clicking the "X" to the left of the group & logout. Didn't work. I tried it and then deleting all cookies. Didn't work.

I just now clicked on the "X" to the right of the popup bubble, logged out and it worked!  [Edit:  the "X" shown here.]

Maybe some are different? Maybe something changed? I dunno, but for now I'm back to "nuts as normal" @Sad (Maybe try that and you won't be Sad?? :)

Thanks again all.

Edit it wasn't permanent..comes back when I visit forums :((. Sorry for the false hope.

Thank you! I tried this a few times and the update is gone now. It just took a few tries. :)

@Pordis: Sadly I'm still sad -- it didn't work :(

Though I seem to be in some strange twilight zone where some pages are fixed but only for a very select few pages. The vast majority of the forum is however still broken :(

Didn't work. The notifications show up again when you navigate to your next page.

The cause of it is the invitation for the groups which are deleted before you confirm (accept) or refuse it.

Yeah I just realised that it only stays gone til I read a forum...then it's back. :((

Edit:  Maybe a number of tries (as Captain Crash says below) is helpful.  I removed a few more times... and for several sessions over some time now...it is gone *crosses fingers*.    Since I know now it's either a trouble maker or some honest mistake that I can ignore, it's not so worrisome.  I guess I just need to take Woody Allen's attitude, "I wouldn't want to be a member of any group that would want me."   ;D   (or something like that)

Thanks again all.  And to Bioware,  I do appreciate all the work and expense that goes into these forums, and maybe it's unreasonable to expect perfection, but we are users---that's what we do ;)
(And it's probably hard to justify to corporate how much the forums do to generate sales---but as an anecdotal point, I *did* purchase dao as a direct result).

Its an unreliable fix at best. As in it its not really a fix at all and your probably just lucky if it works. It doesn't solve the underlying fault regardless and its something Bioware needs to address. Especially now its been recognised by people as a method to cause some trouble!

Mine has gone using the log out, clear cache method. Its been gone for about 6 hours and I've been online much of that time so I know it isn't coming back. I used the same method the first time it happened to me too a few weeks ago. However both times it took several attempts at it.

Please people of BioWare, can we please get a fix on this soon, it is really really annoying. :/
