If you played Alice: Madness Returns you will notice that it runs on the Unreal Engine, the same as Mass Effect and you will also notice that the protagonist: Alice has long hair that actually has physic's to it.

Her hair moves depending on the wind and the direction Alice is standing, jumping up and down causes her hair to go all over the place. Even under sea her hair reacts differently.

From what i can remember i  think the Xbox does not have DirectX11 (unsure about the PS3), Alice's hair is very fluid and very good. Why can't Mass Effect 3 have this?

The rain effects were alot more superior to Mass Effect 2 as well.

Also if you look carefully, each hair strand creates it's own shadow.

Because maleshep doesn't have long hair and its a lot to invest purely into femshep and her multiple styles, even if I really really really want it.

However I agree it doesnt have to be on the level of Alice. Its been known for a good time that hair physics can work well on Unreal 3. Some movement would look great and I really hope even if subtle its there for ME3.

So far BioWare has not bothered to include even decent textures for PC Mass Effect games. I doubt that they would show any love for PC this time. They should learn from DICE how to make games for PC... Also current gen consoles are ****** poor old toy boxes.

Well Casey has confirmed they are updating textures and adding new styles.

If they include some movement with the uprated hair I will really be happy. The poor quality hair textures was perhaps my biggest minor gripe of ME2.

@CaseyDHudson Are female hair styles getting any upgrade in #ME3? or is it just the same ones as the previous two games? Cheers!

Yep, we have some new tech that allows us to make the old hair look better and add ones we haven't been able to do before.

Unfrotunately companies do not need PC market. Consoles is all they need. Sad but it's true.

There is no excuse for lack of hair physics in ME3, DA2 had them and boob physics.

Boob physics is a requirement these days, dumbing down games and adding massive boobs appeal to simpletons and young teenagers.

They developed new hair tech for Alice, and yes I would love to see something like this in ME3.

So, one last question -- kind of a weird one: We noticed that it seemed like extra special care
had been taken to animate Alice's hair. What's going on there?

It's not animated. It's all dynamic -- it's real-time. It's quite a feat of technology. There's a guy on our team named Milo Yip, who is from Hong Kong; really, really good at this kind of physics and material technology. So he went in there and built this entire system for cloth and hair in the game, which we think is actually really special.

It certainly is an impressive feat that does not require DirectX11 unlike Batman: AA just to make a cape flow or a handfull of paper to flop around.

I doubt that they have anything magical. Current gen consoles are all about trade offs. ME3 already looks dated and even more so on PC next year if they do not show some love fof PC this time.

PS. If formating is wrong it is Opera Mobile's fault...

^ That is proberly the best news we will ever get on hairstyles, i doubt we will get flowing hair or cloth physics, most of the power is used on facial animation. A fair trade i guess.

I could care less if my hair flaps in the breeze but I'd at least be down for some new long, short and medium length hair styles.

As for ME3 already looking dated... ummm no, it doesn't.

It sure does, compared to BF3 or even Crysis 1 (though, that is pretty obvious). There are many games that look better than ME3. They have not showed anything amazing yet.

I just think it's silly to say that only morons and puberty plagued boys enjoy the sight of breasts. Or that it's a sign of 'dumbing down'.
