These are the races found in the Galaxy since ME1 ( except the Yahg, but they were introduced in ME2 sooo...).

Raloi
Virtual Aliens
Yahg
Kiriks

Bad timing for them to be discovered... Or not?

Clearly Bioware is introducing them with a reason... But what might it be?

I believe they will have a say in ME3's plot...

One would hope so.

The Yahg in particular, I can easily foresee a Salarian/Krogan uplift parallel being introduced.

The Turians uplift the Raloi ( both avian) and the Rachni make contact with the Kirks ( both insects).

Virtual Aliens to sway the geth?

I really doubt they'll have much effect on anything important, at least in ME3. They're mostly there for world-building, I think.

I love the idea of meeting new species. I just hope that none of them are like, "Look at our deus ex machina that kills the Reapers lol!"

Raloi are too young on the scene to have much of an impact I suspect. Their military will be limited. Having said that Humans still put the scare into the Turians when they appeared on the scene so perhaps they do have some ships. There usefulness will be debatable though.

Yahg arnt space faring so the only appearance we will see them is if someone took one for use in combat. Kiriks are just insects and probably wont make an appearance.

Virtual Aliens sound like they have a story to tell and may be in possession of some very useful information. This could easily be a plot device if needed.

The Yahg don't have fleets and the reapers don't seem to have many ground troops but maybe. Virtual Aliens could be useful since they are basically AIs. Kiriks seem likely to become the next Rachni. Not sure on the Raloi.

It would be awesome if we could go to the Yahg homeworld for a side mission. Holy crap that would be a tough mission though. I think the Virtual Aliens are the most likely to make an appearance though. We'll probably see a few Raloi on the Citadel i would bet. Kirik are just insects though, with the intelligence of about a dog, so i doubt it.

I think the Yahg would be very useful against husks.

i think the kiriks and the virtual aliens are there incase you destroyed the rachni or choose to eliminate the geth.

but i think there might be a mission where the normandy goes to the virtual alien's ship to ask for aid (like after the reaper attacks the VA's go back to their ship, or something) and since you have EDI she could request a council with the VA's or something :/

The virtual aliens was the best CDN story in my opinion, I really hope that plot line is explored in ME3.

The Raloi won't have any ships, as it was stated on CDN it was one of its first generation telescopes being launched, which in human terms is roughly 1960's equipment. So I doubt they will be much help. The Yagh and VA could however be of significant help, though there are parallels to the Geth and Krogan to be made.

I was thinking the same thing...

But for the others: do not underestimate the Kiriks... from what I read they are learning extremely quick. After all, they are said to be the perfect candidates for an uplift.

"Virtual aliens" sounds like an old-fashioned con job. People pretending to commune with "virtual aliens" rather than ghosts or spirits by channeling them. Sheesh.

I think that may be a joke entry?

The mysterious and allmighty Shadow Broker being revealed to be of a previously unseen species - in one of the bridging DLCs no less - pretty much confirms that BioWare has something in mind for the yagh. A scenario in which they are uplifted by one of the other races, perhaps with you as Shepard making the call, does indeed seem likely.

Ah yes these species are about to learn the Reaper motto: Eating new life and new civilisations.

Anybody besides me feel that uplifting the yahg would be disastrous? They're stronger than krogans with the intelligence and learning capabilities of salarians, AND their violent and aggressive culture revolves around striving to be the dominant alpha. Krogans 2.0 anyone? Only this time, they'll learn to build ships and fleets and try to take over the Citadel, and they'd have a good chance of succeeding.

If it ever came to a point where Shepard would have to make the decision to uplift them or not, I'd definitely choose not to. In fact, I'd nuke them from orbit if I could.

Fighting highly (and usually) hostile Yahg would be fun, it's whether or not they'll play a role in the Reaper Invasion as Reaper allies.

Raloi and the other new races will have a cameo in ME3 or will not be mentioned at all but may feature in another ME game. I kinda expect another Yahg boss fight though at some point in the game.
