Vaughn Shepard
Level 56
Second Playthrough Mass Effect 1 (Going for Level 60)
Paragon 100%
Infiltrator --> Commando
---------------------------------
Reason for thread/topic?
I'd like some help with some decisions during the course of both games. Like who to bring with me during the missions, order of my missions, love interest, who to let live / who to kill / who to negotiate with etc. I've played this game so damn much that its just hard to get back into again; but I deleted ALL my data for both games in preperation for Mass Effect 3 - that way I can have a very orgainzed save file to transfer over. My first file will be my Paragon Infil - but I'd like your thoughts on who to do what with / where to go and when, all of that.
I appriciate the read; please respond, all opinions welcome.

If you haven't tried it yet, try saving Liara for the very last world, for some funny dialogue.

It's an RPG and it's your game. Why ask any of us? Our opinions are as valid as random number generators.

@ Praetor Shepard -- Oh? I never tried that, what happens may I ask =D?
@ iOnlySignIn -- I'm asking the community to help out a bit because I'm bored doing the same thing over and over; and I was trying to see if the people could spark my interest at all. Kind of like a "Community actually coming together" thing. If you're offended or don't care; don't reply, that simple hah.

Dialogue related to the Beacon changes and in the debrief scenes. And Liara only does the mindmeld like once I think?
But I don't wanna ruin it either, I think it's cool to try at least once.

@ Praetor Shepard -- Maybe I'll give that a shot =D. Any thoughts on who my squad should be? Though I don't think squads matter in either game; they seem to be useless...I've not once used my squad tactically since the first two times I played either game; the A.I. for them are totally friggen retarded.

Since you're starting at 56, I'd recommend bringing Tali for her capacity to lockdown enemies.
If you have the Cooldown reducing armor mods, a Savant line Omni-Tool, and 11 points in AI Hacking, She can really spam the Master Level of Overload, Sabotage and Damping. Then with Colossus Armor and a good Shotgun, she's great in ME1.
Here's how I distribute talent points for Tali in ME1:
06 Pistols
11 Shotguns
08 Basic Armor
06 First Aid
10 Electronics
12 Damping
12 Decryption
11 Hacking
06 Quarian Mechanic
The second companion, would be up to you. Kaidan and Liara are nice for their CC, and I use Ash, Garrus and Wrex as Combat Specialists. Here are recommendations for talent point distribution for the entire ME1 Squad.
And I'd say the Medical Exoskeleton is quite possibly the best armor mod for all companions.

Try a game where you get all aliens killed/unrecruited. Alternately, killing/skipping as many humans as possible. If you're killing/skipping all the aliens, kill the Council and save the base.

@ Marshalleck -- Oh pfft I could never act like a Renegade; it just isn't in me to be that cruel.
@ Praetor Shepard -- What do you with your romances? When I first played ME1 (back when it first came out) I was an Ashley fan-boy for a while; but I then reallllly liked the whole Liara/Shepard thing. Then of course ME2 rolled around and now I'm a friggen Tali-freak.
Do note to any posters; I'm not trying to start a war here but lord knows some Ashley fanboy is going to come in here guns blazing....I swear the Ashley fans and the Cerberus fans are so touchy and violent...no one else here is >_>.

My cannon Shep is gonna be solo actually. No paramour
But I've tried Ash like once, and then in ME2 I've only done the Tali and Miranda ones. I'd say for romances choose what you like most.
I also remembered a few scenes in ME1 that are easy to miss. One is at the Beacon on Eden Prime, you need to walk to the edge of the platform near by the Beacon, where Sovereign touched down.
The second is on the Citadel, you need Kaidan and Ash. As soon as you finish the very first meeting with Udina, head down to Ward. To the area where the protesters will be later on, the Wong lady chills by that pillar there, and you should be able to select a spot and have a fun dialogue with those two. I hope that makes sense.

For extra dialog:
Have Ashley and Tali in your group after you rescue Tali. Go to the Citadel on foot. Don't use the taxi.
Have Ashley and Kaidan when toy do the assignment for Chellick on the Citadel (if you're handling it paragon)
Bring Kaidan to the ship hijacked by biotics w/Chairman Brns onboard.
Bring Tali to Feros.
Wrex can Garrus have a conversation about the Krogan Statue.
Bring Liara with you when you first meet the Consort.
Being Wrex and Liara to Noveria.
Bring Ashley onto the Citadel when you're grounded so she can yell at Charles Sarincino.
None of these are ground shaking differences, but just throwing em out there. I can't think of any others off the top of my head.
For the fullest romance, I'd pick Liara as her romance (will) spans all three games and fits better with her reason to give Shepard to Cerberus. Also, she has enough alternative/situation specific dialog to hold off on the romance initiating conversation (the 2nd main conversation line) and make her romance develop more naturally over time compared to Ashley's (and I assume Kaidan's) in which the only way to continue speaking to her is to have the romance starting/stopping conversation.

If you want to try something crazy, then play ME1 completely without Garrus. And if you left even Liara out, then you have different Virmire and Wrex confrontation.
Then you can try to play without doing any Cerberus related assignments, which should basically mean that Shep doesn't have any or at least much prior knowledge of what Cerberus had done.
Then ME2. Recruit Legion before Tali and you have some extra dialogue on Haestrom. Also bring Legion to Tali's trial and you once again have extra dialogue.
More extra dialogue you have if you have recruited Garrus and Grunt and bring them to Mordin's dossier mission. Also Grunt being on Garrus dossier mission will cause some extra dialogue with Bloodback merc boss.
And then you can try to something really extreme and kill Tali on Freedom's progress and see can she actually die and not be game anymore.

For extra dialog:
Being Wrex and Liara to Noveria.
Also bringing Ashley and Liara provides extra dialogue.
Also every crew members have soem unique and sometimes spontaneous dialogue in different places.
Easiets way to look at different unique dialogue options are here masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Unique_dialogue
And about romance.
If you really want to try something different, then Romance Liara in ME1, cheat her in ME2 with Kelly and someone else and then continue her romance in LotSB if you have it.
Also you can try to romance Samara in ME2 (do not pursue any other romances, if you want this one. Also Kill Samara during her loyalty mission and you get Morith in your crew. Just don't try to get too personal with you, because all Lazarus project work would be rendered useless.
Also you can try to pursue romance with multiple romance options in ME2, but ultimately you had to choose only one.
