NOTE: Yes, this includes ship classes from ME3, that's why I created the thread on this board.

Ship classes are often mentioned in Codex entries, but they don't have their own codex entry. And they don't have their own wiki page either. Instead, they are scattered around the Codex. I suggest that we come up with a comprehensive list of ship classes in the MEverse. I'll begin with this simple list:

Frigates
Normandy class (Alliance)
Dropship* class (Geth)
Jade* class (Private, Arcturian Jade)
Hastings* class (Alliance)

Cruisers
Collector Cruiser* class (Collectors)
Geth Cruiser* class (Geth)
??? class (Turian cruisers in BotC)
Alliance Cruiser* (seen on BotC)

Carriers
-

Dreadnoughts
Ascension class (Asari Republics)
Kilimanjaro class (Systems Alliance)
Everest class (Systems Alliance)

Fighters/Interceptors
Occuli* class (Reapers)
??? class (Alliance, seen on ME3)
Geth Fighter* class (Geth)
Turian Fighter* class (Seen in BotC, comics)

Shuttles
Kodiak* class (Kodiak model, Cerberus, Systems Alliance, Batarian Hegemony)

Corvette
-

Liveships
Several Quarian ships, no distinct class.
Purgatory* class (prototype?)
Shadow Broker Base class (prototype)

Freighter
Kowloon class (private)
Athabasca class (private)

*= Not actual names

The non-dreadnaught classes seem to all be "(unknown)" to me.

Oh, I misread your original post: thought you were going by names and not classes

I could definitely see Alliance Carriers playing a major role in fighting the Reapers. The Interceptors would be useful at intercepting occuli before they close with ships that lack powerful point defense systems, and the Fighters (they sound more like bombers, to be) would be able to get in close to the Reapers and deliver heavy ordinance at close range....Who knows if that'd be enough to breach a Reaper's shielders, though.

But yeah, more on topic: I feel like we don't have that much information about individual ships in the ME universe. We know the classes, to an extent, but we don't know much about appearance or numbers (except for Dreadnoughts).

I noticed some of the Geth ships in the background were different, always wondered why it wasn't brought up more often.

They could be the turian fighters. Those are definitely there, but they aren't mentioned anywhere. I remember something about a frigate class in the Batarian codex entry, though.

Han Gerrel mentions serving on a ten person combat ship with Tali's father. I guess that would be a gunboat? Maybe a corvette?

Oh!  And I remember that the Puragatory was orignally constructed as an livestock transport vessel.  A specialized cargo ship.

And since the Normandy-class was codeveloped by the Alliance and the Hierarchy, I think it's a fair bet that the turians have a few of their own. I wonder if they call them the "Normandy-class" like we do.

Sounds like a corvette to me. The thing is, I doubt that it was manufactured by Quarians.

I really wish Bioware would give (more) names and details on ships. We've seen the turian cruisers but there isn't any label for them other than that. Pictures to go with the names so we can distinguish ships that are built by a particular race.

There is a few unidentifiable ships at the start of the game, when the Normandy arrives at the Citadel for the first time after Eden Prime as Joker asks for permission to land, they seem to be vaguely shaped like Fuel Depots; part of the Citadel Fleet?

Also there is Feron's transport seen in Redemption as well as a few others.

Is it just me or does the model of the Turian frigate Verakan (spelling?) that Zaeed has in his quarters look exactly like the Turian cruisers at the battle of the Citadel?
