Oh, look.  Another "Idea:" from XX55XX.

I wouldn't mind a few scary elements here and there, though.  Overlord used some, and that was fine with me.

Oh dear god, NO. It would cease to be sci-fi.

Uhm... don't aliens count as "paranormal"?

Haven't we had Spectres since the First game?Posted Image

And joking aside, we already got Morinth, a succubi of legend. That's as close as we need to come really.

No, not really. Paranormal means unexplained by science. There are scientific explanations for alien life forms even with our existing knowledge. The OP is referring to spirits/ghosts/afterlife/psychics etc however in sci-fi if they explain this stuff it ceases to be paranormal. A good example of that would be biotics because telekinesis would normally be considerd paranormal.

While I love teh supernetural sci-fi horror subgenre, so far, there has been no hint whatsoever of it in the ME universe, and I think it fits better that way-

That could actually be kinda cool...for another game. The idea itself isn't bad, imo, but there hasn't been any indication that such things existed in the first two games and I think it should stay that way.

Mass Effect already has supernatural elements.  They're called the Reapers, a race of sentient Lovecraftian machine gods whose sole purpose is to extinguish life in the cosmos, driving those around them either into madness or zombie-like servitude.

Like ghosts, spectres, that sort of thing.

For example, in the midst of a firefight, a mysterious psychic force comes out of nowhere and kills the Cerberus troops you just engaged. Or, when wandering through an empty building, ghostly apparitions appear, startling you and your squadmates.

It could make for a nice subplot if you think about it. For example, Eden Prime exhibits unnatural instability far beyond the norm when Shepard lands there, and he/she discovers that a civilian killed during the Reaper's attack on Eden Prime is the reason for the hostile spectres present on the planet, making it dangerous for anyone to land and threatening to force the planet off its orbit. To restore stability, Shepard must properly lay her soul to rest.

What is this? Fear? No thanks. Maybe for some other game.

I would like a bit more horror elements in ME. Something similar to when we are inside the Reaper or the Collector ship.

Otherwise:

I'm in favour of more horror themes but not outright supernatural ones. There's no need for it.

you know, it really doesn't make less sense than "holographic blades"

The truth is ME is already moving away from hard Sci-Fi and more towards sloppy Star Warsesque "science fantasy" garbage.

I guess us hard Sci-Fi fans don't get to have ANY toys to play with, EVERY Sci-Fi game has to be geared towards the lowest common denominator. Being smart isn't as important as being "badassed"
