lol Optomistic maybe, but I've been playing Bioware games for a long time. I know they'll do things right. Maybe not how we want them, but they will make it right. Just because one character is a favorite over others doesn't mean that they will get more show time.

Um, what the hell? You understand the reason Garrus and Tali showed up in me2 was because they were fan favourites?

And you look at how long it took a relationship to start in 1 and 2. Maybe 3-4 conversations. Not a big deal in my mind to achieve. "Ash I cheated on you with Tali. Tali I chose you." It's easy to do. Probably one of the easiest things Bioware can do is the relationship part.

Those would be sucky relationships

I have faith that Bioware knows what their doing. Their good to their fans, but their not going to pander to everyones wants. They have a story and they will make it fun.

read my HIGH EXPECTATIONS OF BIOWARE thread. people like you are the inspiration for that topic.

lol Hey I'm not saying that Tali and Garus weren't added as per fan request, but it fit with the story.
And actually look at how many conversations it takes to start a romance. It is around 4 conversations. It's not hard to work in to the over all story. Not hard at all.
I don't have high expectations for Bioware. I know they will give us an awesome game. I expect nothing but a thrilling conclution to an epic trilogy. Seeing as LIs are secondary to the story, yet really popular, they will do what is right in the end. They could leave out the romance from the story and I wouldn't mind. Be kinda strange, but wouldn't mind.
In all honesty I'm sure the people at Bioware have had the story figured out from the get go. It's these subtle things that the fans want that they throw in just as an extra 'here ya go'

you've never written anything in your life have you? People don't just have the story all fleshed out from the "get-go"

What do you take this for?

The fact the BW even introduces s/s romance suggest they have enough time. I am sure romance will get more ingame time than it did in ME1 or ME2.

Though I agree with you about Tali and Garrus might come close but will not rival Ashley/Liara's.That's because Ashley and Liara are apart of the plot now, unlike Tali and Garrus, who are essentially placeholders.

Gotta love extremely flawed logic. Ashley and Kaidan are placeholders for each other. Any arguement you could make concerning ME2 romances applies equally to them because they're both expendable.

This only suggests a pattern of fan bending over logic.

not a good thing.

No. difference. Ashley/Kaidan are like one character. whether either one of them can die, ONE OF THEM have to be there.

Both Garrus and Tali can die, no fuss.

I romance Liara in once, Romanced Tali several times, Liara and Tali once. Because Liara is the only one who can't die and Tali is the most popular, I am not worried about content.King Zeel who is your favorite?

Try harder to sell it. One of them will be there but not in a guaranteed romantic capacity. Either of them could be strapped to the bomb...including one you romanced. Any role they share will be exceedingly generic. (See their ME2 usage). Because neither one has guaranteed usage, they will not get any bigger romantic role than any of the ME2 interests that join the crew. Nor any less.

You're right, Ashley/Kaidan are packaged as one stop-all human romance LI. This guaranteeds them a huge spot in Me3.

And they will be unique, look at me1.

HAH Dude I'm a writer and have played Biowares games since Baldur Gate on the PC. Trust me it's not hard to come up with romantic plot. Bioware does it all the time. I implore you next time you play the mass effect games to see that it takes roughly 4 conversations to establish your romance.
The STORY isn't about a space age relationship. It's about saving the galaxy. Everything else is side story. Romances, side missions, I'll even throw in the loyalty missions since they are optional. It is that easy to have a story arc and throw in stuff as desired.

It's lung cancer, Zeelie, not brain.

It's not even cancer, it's Kepral's Syndrome. The lungs are slowly filled with liquid that interferes with and degenerates respiration. No respiration = certain death.

I know right? They could have put Kaidan on top too, just like Ashley, but then they completely reversed positions.

Sometimes I kind of regret that Tali was wasted on ME2. Oh well.

Daro'Xen is more my type anyway.

I guess I'm still not seeing where it was cruel of Bioware to include romances... Let's look sat the romances of ME1 and 2 again shall we?

Male Shepard:

Ashely - ME 1
Liara - 1 and 2
Jack - 2
Tali - 2
Miranda - 2

Female Shepard:
Kaiden - 1
Liara - 1&2
Thane - 2
Garrus - 2
Jacob - 2

That's five romances per Shepard... not 10. Please don't try to include Kelly... it's obvious from the comments from other characters(including Kasumi) that Kelly likes to... get around. She's not even part of the romance achievement. That's a booty call, not a romance :P

The fact there are new romances in ME2 does not seem cruel... it seems to make sense. In real life, break ups exist. People change... situations force them apart... people get confused...Heck, there's even dialogue built in when Shepard can't make up his mind on who to be with. It's pretty realistic in that aspect... and since we have no idea what is going to happen in ME3... there might be a valid reason that there's someone new. Maybe Shepard's old fling found someone else... or dies. You could romance Ashley and then she can die in the same game. Is that cruel? No, tragic sure, but not cruel. It's a video game. So... again I ask... what is so cruel about it?

And I agree... Shepard should be allowed to sleep with anyone he wants. Heck, half the chicks the male Shepard meets would be perfectly willing to from the way they act. Why stop them? Get some Dragon Age Origin's type romances in here... you know... where you can have everyone in the same game! Cruel? No... Awesome.. yes.

Um.... March...?
The topic has driven um...to parts unknown. I am certainly not seeing how it is "cruel of Bioware to include romance in ME2".
King Zeel, nothing is "realistic" about this topic. We are all only making assumptions. That is all anyone can do. You are not being spiteful, but you certainly aren't be realistic.
