ok to start Harbinger itself means either: 1. a person who goes ahead and makes known the approach ofanother; herald.
2.anything that foreshadows a future event; omen; sign: Frostis a harbinger of winter.
3.a person sent in advance of troops, a royal train, etc., toprovide or secure lodgings and other accommodations.

so we can at least assume that hey is some kind of warning or something like that.

Harbinger says many things  during the course of mass effect 2 that if you pay attention you can realize some of the things the reapers want. to say a few such as: (here for the video: )

1. "The forces of the universe bend to me" (which so far we humans only know are 4 of them, strong, weak, electro and gravity ones)
2."There is no pain, there is no fear" (this mean they will be like the geth, they wont flinch from battle or any other things that might interrupt what they must do so they will always go on with their plans no matter what)
3."we are your destiny" (which most likely means that organic will eventually in the future become reapers, because of a dramatic situation in which they are forced to or any other explanation that the reapers only know so they "harvest" the worthy ones and eliminate the rest)
4."we do not die" (meaning that even after being "destroy" they are not really "gone" this one has my attention in which I will explain in a bit)
5."you do not yet comprehend your pace endings" ( if what I heard he said is correct then we, organics, do not understand the ending we are going for or planning)

I really like number 4 because in the derelict reaper in mass effect 2 in one of the work log you can hear and read that one of the researcher (being indoctrinated I assume) says that the ship was dead but that it still was dreaming, he said its a dead god who can dream, not like a old man with magical power but that instead its a force and that it warps reality just by being there. He keeps saying that: "it doesnt have to want to, it doesnt have to think about it, it just does" he says the other didnt understand that until it was too late, meaning they realize they were being indoctrinated. then he kept saying that the god's mind is gone but that it still is "dreaming" and that the reaper know of their prescence and that he invaded their dreams. Then finally he says that when he closes his eyes, he can feel him, he can feel everyone of "us" whether he meant the other cerberus team or something in general we do not know.

I assume that the researcher meant he was still "indoctrinating" when he meant dreaming but i could be wrong.

What do you guys think about all of this?

Sovereign is quite dead. I think Harbinger is just boasting his ass off. Who is gonna call him out on it?

Harbinger actually says, "you do not yet comprehend your place in things."

Sovereign said that they could not be stopped. I'm sure that they just want to be feared. The words sound very similar to the things Sovereign said at Virmire.

LOL XD well he does says that "the forces of the universe "bends" to him, so nice one :P but we know he meant to say he "warps" the forces of the universe to his "will"

Err, Harbinger has all the subtlety of a brick through a window. Not really earth-shaking revelations here.

I don't know if it's Bioware underestimating their audience or people really are just that thick and have to be talked down to in order to understand, but I find it incredibly annoying that an intelligent machine millions of years old communicates on about a fifth grade level.

A small part of me really wants Harby to be a squad mate at some point, somehow. Just because I doubt I would ever get tired of how lovingly dramatic he is.

The most interesting part of harbinger's dialogue to me was the "we are your salvation through destruction" bit. I assume he meant pureeing us and feeding us to baby terminator, but I'm not quite sure how that's "salvation" from anything.

Salvation from "the chaos of organic evolution" perhaps? ;)

Again, Harbinger is anything but subtle. He thinks he's doing humans a favor.

"Prepare these humans for ascension."

No, really. This video is fully loaded with disturbingly sexual Harbinger quotes (It's his actual voice):

He is far to assumtious for me.

If he didn't assume control of everything maybe we could be friends, otherwise eh.

There is no law that says machines cannot lie. Harbinger and the other Reapers could just be full of hot air, y'know...

We do not die (a death of aging)

We are your destiny (likely at some point some "brilliant" human will get the idea that we should transfer our consiousness from flesh to machine, which will trigger a war that lasts a 1000 years.. oh wait wrong game, but still just look at TIM)

Organic lifeforms feel pain and fear, machines doesn't. However they don't experience love, hope whatever positive as well. Look at the movie Equilibrium, goes around the same theme with the emotions. So essentially they want to "free" us from bad things, taking away all the good as well, very basic

Do not comprehend place in things, It's just Harby that thinks himself superior and he knows most races would never surrender, he thinks it is inevitable that we ascend, guess doing the same thing for millions of years with success each time is kinda boosting ones arrogance.

I'm pretty sure that Sovereign was lying when it converses with Shepherd in ME1 (something about a machine denying it has a creator just makes me think "unreliable narrator"), I'm not more inclined to take Harbinger at it's word.

Also, I think like Sovereign, Harbinger is just trying to sound very Cthulhu. Let's face it, what's more heroic; fighting -and beating - all-powerful machine gods with the power of the human spirit or just blowing up some giant robots? One makes an epic story, the other makes for... Well, not much.

I think Harby and Sovereign were just going through their teenage years. "You just don't understand"
"I'm so much better than you"
