I watched it. Tis' a pretty good summary for what we know. Maybe a bit too much speculation but that can't be helped with Arrival really.

Not bad at all, it'll certainately be useful for PS3 gamers who missed out on ME1.

Is there a thread for PS3 users telling them what they missed from ME1?

I don't buy the dismissal of Arrival having to be after the SM even though it can be played before the SM. While I'm sure the canon idea is that it is after the SM I don't think Bioware would have allowed it to be played before the SM if it didn't make sense plot wise to do so.

I also think it makes more sense that the Reapers were 2 years at FTL speed from the rim of the Galaxy which is why they needed the Citadel Relay to get there from Dark Space. I think they would need to be an immense distance away or risk being spotted while they're dormant and, if they were only months away to start with I don't see why coming out of the Citadel relay is so much better an option than just using a bunch of relay jumps to get there instead. In fact the Alpha relay probably already goes direct to Citadel space.

I think the human reaper was about something other than the Galactic invasion. I think it was a separate project which the invasion didn't have to wait for.

^Why would anyone go to Dark Space? There's nothing there.

Reapers were far enough to not be discovered.

Also they are very fast.
Kenson said they'll need months or years to get to nearest Relay but they get in only 2 months.
Which means Reapers are very fast.

Nice video, and your theories work pretty well, besides I'm not sure that the reapers were going to use their human baby there where the Sovereing failed. But maybe it was a long-going strategy, so the eventual second attack to the Citadel won't have happened before centuries, or they planned to make more than only one newborn. Off course, no matter what it was the plan, Shepard screwed it, forging them to "direct the thing personally".

@Mesina2 Exactly right. Without a planetary body, or star nearby, any starship would become hopelessly lost in dark space. And there is a LOT of dark space between galaxies. You wouldn't stumble over the Reapers. Ever.

Really Enjoyed it. I never actually understood the story of ME2 except that you needed to stop the Collectors.

Honestly my theory's very similiar to yours. It makes sense the Reapers would attempt constructing a second vanguard to keep their existence a secret until this vanguard could open up the Citadel's mass relay yet again. This just makes Mass Effect 2's plot all the more important and not just filler. I believe this is what BioWare were going for and I'm sticking to it all the same.

A nice summary, mate. Good work.

You don't have to go there to be spotted by telescopes or other astronomical measuring devices. I don't think it would even count as darkspace unless it were well beyond the rim.

The point is, I don't think it makes sense to be sitting within months of the Galaxy and just sit there for two years. It makes far more sense that they are years away from the Galaxy (if the Citadel Relay doesn't work) and, therefore, have to take years to get here.

The fact that Arrival can happen before the SM is just more evidence to support this scenario as they wouldn't have bothered travelling to the Alpha relay if the idea was to send the human reaper to open the Citadel relay. It just tips their hand prematurely.

It makes perfect sense that they got here as soon as they could and that the human reaper was for reasons as yet unknown and nothing to do with their invasion plans.

Would just like to say a big, big thank you for making this video. This video is going to help me a lot in a 'debate' me and a guy on a different forum have over the importance of the ME2 plot and the Reapers' plans etc.

Great work!

The problem with telescopes and such is that you need light. Black ships in nothingness would never be picked up by any instrument we have today, and I doubt much has changed by then. It would be like trying to use a magnifying glass to find  a black pin in a pitch black room.

great job ^.^ This helped summarize ME1, ME2, and where they both relate to ME3. I haven't played the Arrival DLC so that was extremely helpful in learning about that aspect of the ME universe. That and the timeline from the end of ME2 to the start of ME3 was useful to know as well. Good job!
