Why are people gunning for a Kaidan same-sex romance so much?

 Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against homosexuality, but he's shown no signs of "batting for the other team," so to speak, so far. And it would be quite odd to have him changing teams all of a sudden. Remember how weird it was when Anders came onto you out of the blue?

It would just feel incredibily forced if he were to "come out" at this point.

The S/S lobby demands it, though. Who else are they going to make bisexual?

They could (and probably will) introduce a non-asari bisexual character instead of picking someone who has already been written as straight.

Because they liked him in ME1 and were disappointed they didn't get to romance him? You seem to be missing the point of being in the closet in the first place. The whole idea of it is to show no signs that you might bat for the other team. When a person comes out to you they're not suddenly changing their sexuality. They're just giving you information they'd been hiding from you previously.

Oh here it goes, here it goes, here it goes again.

These threads tend to go in circles, since it's such a complex issue and everyone has a different viewpoint. Not to mention the fact that we have no new confirmed info yet.

For my part, all I want is good writing. Everyone has a different view on who (if any) should be open to s/s romance, but I think we can all agree that we want the characters written well, above all else.

If he was going to make a move, he would have made it in ME1. To deviate from that after the fact is to sacrifice an aspect of his character for the sake of pandering to a specific demographic. You didn't get to romance him not because the developers didn't activate romance for the same sex, but because he's straight.

Again, don't get me wrong. I loved my Zevran romance. I support same-sex relationships in-game (and out of game, for that matter) and engage in them (in-game - if my fiance is reading this, I do not have a boyfriend :P). But to do to Kaidan what they did to Anders would just be irking... even moreso, considering how more fleshed out Kaidan is.

Precisely. And good writing wouldn't have an established character switching teams in order to appease a particular audience, as DA2 so aptly demonstrated.

I am agree, I hope if Kaidan is bi, I hope bioware don't change his personality for women shepard !

After, I can understand the fan male of Kaidan want his for gay romance for his personnality but for the begin he is hetero and I say bioware have cut the scene romance gay for Kaidan in mass effect 1.

But, if he gay how the devs write this changement ? it's not realistic or coming ou ?

But for this moment, the devs no confirm who is bi or gay...

I hope Kaidan no change but when I see the romance in dragon age 2 and for Anders ...

I don't want all bi :bandit: I prefer variety hetero, gay or bi but no all bi please

Exactly. Making everyone bisexual is very lazy, when in reality, a much greater portion is either simply straight or gay - no middleground. In fact, it kind of trivilizes homosexual relationships to make every single character bisexual.

On that note, I would love to see an exclusively gay romance option.

I am hetero, and for the next game mass effect or another game, I hope Bioware create a new role for hetero and gay ^_^

9/10 says they are going to make at least 1 character that you thought was hetero bi.

Just hoping the Anders backlash gave BioWare a hint... :P

you can actually play Kaidan in a s/s/ romance with Shep in ME1 , you just need to unlock it. And he will be on the frame on your desk in ME2 .
and also he'll tell Shep he loved him at the meeting on Horizon.
so there you are .

Ok I know this information , also why Bioware don't confirm Kaidan gay for mass effect 1 and 2 ?

For this moment kaidan is officialy hetero or Bioware change Kaidan for his coming out for the last episode it's not cool for the women shepard.

But we can't speculate answer for march 2012 !!

Because he's hot and has a great personality.

@mya11

What is 'not cool for women Shepard'? Are you assuming that if Kaidan is bisexual he'll leave your Shepard and run to Jacob's arms? Now, that would be a sight.

The reasons you give explain the want, but it wouldn't explain a sudden change in that personality.

The key word is 'want'. There are zero reasons to think the devs will turn Kaidan into a bisexual option for any reason except the fandom wanting it. Just look at Garrus and Tali.

Myself, I would be okay with a new bisexual character (a only gay character has very, very little chances of happening because of resources), if he's likeable enough. But if Kaidan is the s/s option I won't exactly ignore him while I shake my fist in the air screaming "CAAANOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!"

Edit: Typos.

Personality != Sexuality
