Except, it's much more than five seconds of scrutiny.. It's an entire game's worth of scrutiny to the point that five seconds of dialogue in a M. Night Shambledoodle plot twist isn't enough to save it.
Playing a game through once isn't what I'd call "scrutiny". If you aren't paying attention, and your judgments are clouded by a desire to make knee-jerk declarations of dissatisfaction based on "they changed it now it sucks", it's pretty easy to glaze over the actual literary implications and intent in favor of accepting face-value discomforts that agree with an opinion you previously decided you
wanted to have.
Yes, they changed it. They had reasons for doing so. The changes fit very well with the overarching narrative and themes of the game. But not all changes are bad, and I can't really wrap my head around these complaints. (Actually, I can, but I think the reasons are absurd and just a little bit silly and very reactionary).
It's not like I've been, uh, writing essays about this game for four months or anything, but I guarantee to you there is more there than you seem to be willing to see.

And agree. The problem I have with it is that when you look at it from that perspective the LI is tacked on. I'm of the train of thought if you can't do it well than don't do it at all, and I still maintain the fact that his over-eagerness to love is just a blight upon his character, bisexual or not.
How? Why? It's played as
a character fault.
The romance perfectly mirrors the themes approached by the core narrative. I don't understand your use of the term "tacked on". It does not constitute.
