Basically. You liked how the story worked around Anders, I did not. I did not like the overly mushy romance.
If you hate mushy romances you should
like Anders's because it's all about showing how typical romantic tropes are unhealthy and self-destructive. It's almost a cynical
takedown of horrible romance novels.
Look, man.
I did not collect 200 dollars, and I most certainly couldn't overlook the changes to a good character for a story that could've been worked a thousand other ways without involving Anders to such a degree. Whether it would be better or worse is anyone's opinion, but in my mind it would have been. What I like, what I've always liked and will always like about Bioware rpgs is their characters and not their cliche storylines. Yes, the characters are tropes, but the dialogue and the interractions are what do it for me. Take that away from me and it's just another game.
Like I've said, you don't have to like it -- but you seem to have a misconception as to what it actually
is, and a misconception as to how personal dislikes and objective writing deficiencies correlate.

Yes, I really played DA2. And nowhere does it say that because a witty, sarcastic, humor filled character melds with an equally funny, yet somewhat montone spirit.. Has to be the most somber soul in the galaxy after seamlessly melding to the point that they are one. That, after he jumps the gun and confesses all his emotions for you openly you are able to swallow the cheesiness down in hopes that it gets better after you character pretends to be a masochist, the only person ever that one put up with such garbage, only to be constantly burried with it conversation after conversation. Oh I love you so Hawke...
Anders's humor was a facade to cover a lot of pent up hatred and turmoil. Justice was a single-minded personification of a black and white concept with little ability to function in the real world. Their merger was fire to an oil slick and exacerbated every negative aspect of eachother in turn. Anders's emotional instability paired with Justice's obsessiveness produced exactly what you see in the game.
Go back and play Awakening again if you really think the change was out of left field. Hell, just read about what solitary confinement does to a person.
