Yeah, no surprise there. And by "talk" to women, I meant for Shepard to stand and look in the woman's general direction while SHE talks, and to grunt noncomittally at regular intervals. The woman is to then swoon, say something about how manly Shepard is, how this is unlike her, how normally she's a very strong woman, but something about Shepard, just makes her so weak...aaaaand boobs come out.

Yeah, I know how the male mind works. It's not difficult to figure out. :wizard:

I would say it's funny cause it's true, but it's not really funny.

@falconlord5 - LOL. Well, at least you didn't try denying it.

Don't let Siansonea fool yah... I bet somewhere inside her she has fantasies "sometimes" about finding a manly man worth swooning for.

Generally speaking, it just doesn't.

(Sorry, other men! I jest! Mostly!)

Go for the Joss Whedon quote, and somehow people think you're not denying male stereotypes...

To make it plain: real men actually engage with women. Conversations, romance, so on and so forth.

All others are weak, and should be used as lab rats. And butt monkeys.

I think S/S male (cause for some reason they had female but no male. Very silly really) relationship are a great idea. But I agree with the OP that it is silly to rewrite characters.

I think it would be awesome for them to make a strictly gay character (Although I understand why they don't), not because I think there should be separate LI or something but that is how real life works. You may think someones cute but they don't happen to share your sexual orientation. Its no fault of anyone it is just how the world works. It would be amazing for them to include a guy or girl who, if you hit on them, says "Sorry, I'm really not interested.", but actually are interested in the other gender... or whatever. I'd love that.

But I guess if they implemented it well a Protagonist-sexual character could be fine, then people can decide whatever the heck they want about their sexual orientation. The moral to the story is Good Character writing.

@falconlord5 - dude, I was kidding. I don't take these talks very seriously. Sorry about the misinterpretation... and Buffy rocks. ((Well, it's a Xander quote - but you know what I mean.))

Hehe, yeah I think you knew, that I knew that youwere the OP of that thread. ;)
I can't comment on the OP's attributes, so I will take your word for it.
I'm glad we can banter without hard feelings...although your post about the ease of playing a manly man-Shep hurt my feelings a tad.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against homosexuality, but he's shown no signs of "batting for the other team," so to speak, so far. And it would be quite odd to have him changing teams all of a sudden. Remember how weird it was when Anders came onto you out of the blue?

It would just feel incredibily forced if he were to "come out" at this point.

I personally think it would be odd if MOST of the ME/ME2 crew "switched sides" in ME3. However, Kaidan (along with Jack) seems to be one the most likely contenders of a same-sex relationship in my opinion.

I mean, come on - do you see the way he slowly turns and looks into Shepard's eyes during ME conversations? No other male crew member does that! :P

Okay... there doesn't seem to be anything boring about you Siansonea.

And don't get retconned - it seems like it requires too many accessories. :D

I hate it when women start (over)generalizing, corr! (That is a joke.)

On a more serious note: recent studies have shown that the male and female "minds" are not so different. Most differences are induced by social stereotypes and upbringing. The differences among women themselves appear to be far greater than the differences between men and women in general.

On a more on-topic note: if he turns bi/gay, then let it be done in a sensible, well-written fashion. (E.g.: "being in the closet", etc.) As long as it's not a strange and obscure "twist" to the character's personality, I don't think anyone would mind.

If anything,  I must admit I'm not a fan of the closet thing...  mostly because it will make it a bit more dramatic.  Things could be over played with far too many whistles when it could be just as easy as this.  "Shepard,  I'm not sure what your going to think about this but with the galaxy crashing down around us I'm going to take a chance."

@AngelicMachinery: Well, yes, I was just giving an example. I think it'll mainly depend on how it's played out, if you have the option to avoid a lot of drama, etc...

I don't know how I'd feel about it if the character's sexuality was determined by the player's gender, though. Then again, that didn't really bother me in DA II either.

I'm not really a member of the all bi crowd myself,  it wouldn't bother me if it happened.  I do think it wouldn't be a huge stretch if predefined characters ended up bi (I don't particularly care which ones) or really if it was only knew characters as long as they were well written and didn't play to stereotypes.  I will admit a bisexual human female would be awesome... and I do take offense when people say that turning characters bi will "Destroy their integrity..."

I agree. The characters are still enjoyable and well-written, if they stay consistent within the same playthrough. (As in: consistently bi, gay or straight, or evolving from one of these to the other.) As long as it's done properly, I don't mind.

We've been through this before.  Absolutely no one in ME3 will be gay.  NOT ONE CHARACTER.  Garrus is not going to suddenly start hitting on male Turians and talking about his same sex lover from his last crew.  If anything, there will be exactly one conversation trigger that will allow him to become attracted to manShep (not every man in the universe), and it will be easily avoidable.

The worst possible thing Bioware could do is make characters Shepardsexual.

I'd rather Garrus did hit on male Turians or talk about a past same sex lover than have a male crush on Shep only. It would be far more realistic than having Shep be so f---king epic that he can get into anyone's pants, male or female, regardless of their previous sexual interests.

And this is from someone who is against Bioware making characters characters who previously only expressed an interest in the opposite sex, bisexual or homosexual in ME3. (like Garrus)

I agree 100%.

Well, technically, Anders DOES speak about his past sexual interests, which happen to be male if you're male, and female if you're female. So Anders wasn't Hawke-sexual per se.

OQ: Perhaps because he looks so darn cuuuuuute in that pink-and-white Phoenix armor BioWare defaulted him with. It's like an "I survived Virmire and all I got was this lousy armor..." T-shirt. In white. With pink writing. With white jeans and shoes.

And "gunning," while mildly amusing, is an offensive choice of words considering the topic under discussion.

Obviously this is not to say that there's anything wrong with a romance between heterosexual and bisexual people - just that it shouldn't be the only option.  .

I wish this thought process wasn't so common placed,  for some reason people seem to think a bisexual individual is less appealing as a partner because they swing both ways.  I don't get the oppinion at all,  is the attraction somehow lessened?  Is the love if it occures somehow weaker?  I really,  really,  really find this idea mind boggeling.

My own humble interpretation/theory on "how" people that are bi works is the following:

The are capable of being attracted to either gender. However that certainly doesn't mean either gender at the same time. You're in love in a person of pretty much the same reasons as everyone else and stays with that partner for as long as you love them (as everyone else more or less). Basically... The "target group" for a relationship is just twice as big.

My only problem with the all bi "solution" to ME3 is that I have preset ideas of how the characters are and change messes with that.

Who the hell needed a study to know that?

Well to know that differences between individuals are atleast as big as gender differences.

*sigh* people amaze me sometimes.

Why Kaidan?

Cos:

One - He is hot.
Two - He is sweet.
Three - He totally flirts with ManShep in ME1.
Four - He is totally carrying a torch for ManShep given the "losing you was like losing an arm" thing in ME2.
Five - Don't know about anyone else but I really like Raphael Sbarge's voice.
