Why are people gunning for a Kaidan same-sex romance so much?

I feel this way because I go by the "if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, talks like a duck, it's a duck" way. Kaidan expresses that he's interested in women. In most (KEYWORD: MOST) cases you can correctly assume that he is straight.

Now that people can play the comic, you can choose which one survives. ME3 will have something similar allegedly.
One of the largest appeals of the ME trilogy is that you can import a Shepard. The game was out for over a year before they released the comic for the 360/PC. Some people already have several playthroughs to import into ME3. Furthermore it costs people money for the comic. So requiring someone to pay for a piece of DLC that is released over a year after the game came out in order to do a playthrough to get two conversations with someone in order to have them be a romantic option in the third game seems unfair to the people who started with ME2. And there are a fair amount of people who started with ME2.

Concerning whether Kaidan's sexuality can be defined, I think it's clear enough that he's straight.

With respect, probability doesn't come into this. Kaidan isn't a random human male, subject to all the laws of probability that suggest a certain number would be bisexual or gay.
He's a defined character whose traits are assigned by Bioware. "Most" people might not be biotic supersoldiers, a Spectre, and a survivor of a galaxy-spanning mission to stop a threat to interstellar civilisation. Shepard's crew are not "most people" - they're all individual characters sculpted by the artists, designers and writers.
All I'm saying is that nowhere has he exclusively said he's straight. It's not 'clear' up to the point where he actively declines an advance by a male. Showing interest in women is entirely consistent with a character being bisexual.
Someone can look, act, walk and talk like a straight male while being bisexual. By definition, they are attracted to women. Also by definition, they are attracted to men (to whatever degree).
If we hit on Kaidan in ME3 and he responds positively, then the character is bisexual, not gay.

Well, if it's properly written, then I'm sure it'll be fine. Which, if they were intending to make him bisexual from the start anyway (I think you posted that?) could definitely work.ElitePinecone wrote...

Again, to be honest, I never really saw any indication that he would be interested in men as well, but this too can be circumvented. (As you stated.)

Do you judge all people this way, or just fictional characters? I can tell you that the walk like a duck, talks like a duck would not always be accurate in real life.

What has given you the impression that sexuality works like that at all in the first place?
That said, ElitePinecone pretty much covered it.

The maleshep players who played Mass Effect 2 first has no reason to romance Kaidan because 1) he wasn't a LI at all in Mass Effect 2, and 2) They never knew the character, so romancing a new LI seems like a good idea to me.

We've also haven't seen any indication that he is interested in men either. So if we have seen him interested in women but not men then the conclusion some people come up with is that he is straight. Yes men can be interested in women but in a game where we learn about a character by their words and actions we assume a character is a certain way by our observation. We can only conclude on what we have seen so far. Some people see his lack of interest in men in the game as showing he is heterosexual. Yes he may be interested in men but since he hasn't shown any interest it is a better indicator that he is heterosexual rather than bisexual.

What has given me the impression? The fact that I see it all the time. And it doesn't just apply to just sexuality.

I don't take credit for Kaiduck, I just thought it was oddly appropriate in a once-in-a-lifetime moment. I mean, when does one talk about ducks and Kaidan at the same time normally? What are the odds?
@TheBigBadWolf: I have a couple of gay friends who would like to speak with you about assuming. "It makes an ass out of you and me."

I must say sexuality is not an easy thing to process my older brother had not expressed desires for men at any time in his life and one day i walk in to find him making love with a man that why i love sexuality asuming you know some one sexuality does not mean what you assume is fact.

*Sigh* No he isn't. You just failed to see the transition. And it's not as if Justice suddenly make him crave manmeat.
If you can't see the transition, I am sure not going to be able to help you on that one, either.

Let me just address that I know it's bisexual, not gay.
I see where you are coming from with him being a unique individual and such, though.
I know that he never says anything among the lines of "I like women and women only," but so far he's only shown and interest in women. I know that doesn't mean he can't like men as well, but like I said, in most cases you could correctly assume that a person expressing an interest in one gender only is only interested in that gender.
But that kind of puts this in a circle, as you can go back to the part about him being unique.
