With respect, throwing around terms like 'garbage' doesn't help your case.

I'll try and put this as simply as I can.

No character has ever stated their sexual preference.

While it is more likely that a character would be heterosexual than bisexual, probability is irrelevant when characters are constructed by the developers.

Therefore, it is not inconceivable that characters were always bisexual and never had the inclination or the option to pursue this. There's a lot to the characters that we never see in the short timespan of the game series.

A character who liked women in Mass Effect would still like women if they were bisexual. But they would also like men. No part of their character would change, and they would be entirely consistent with their previous self.

It's Bioware's perogative to decide what is realistic and what is feasible.

If they choose to write familiar characters as bisexual in Mass Effect 3, I trust them to do it strongly and believably.

If they felt it was marketable, it would happen, though.  Bioware wants to expand the options... there's nothing you can do.  It was their decision.

... And again I have to reiterate no one is turning gay on you.

None character will turn gay, that would contradict their established attraction to opposite-sex. But being available as bisexual option does not contradict anything. Plus, was Mario, Link, Snak or Marcus Fenix starring in role playing games? And were they ever planned to be bisexual? No. Kaidan was though.

Since you don't sound like some rude bastard like most of the gay supporters I'll be nice and reply to you with a fine comment that isn't in anyway meant to be mean alright?

I believe that the games have established sexuality already; if you couldn't do it yet - you shouldn't later.

Suggesting Bioware decided to pull a Dragon Age 2 with the sexuality; I would be less inclined to buy the game. There are many things so far that I am getting nervious about with the final installment of the game. VA's being replaced / left out, Sexuallity being changed and or altered, A.I. still being dumb as a stump (your team not the opponents), and I fear the story direction. So the Sexuality thing would be one of those things to push me further away from ME3 - though if they added 1 to 3 new characters that are either squadmates or just love-interests on the side I'd be fine with it. That should be a fair compromise.

I do try to sound civil, so don't take this as an attack, but rather just a response to what you have said.

The devs have already suggested that it will not be like DA2, the whole "all LIs are bi" thing.  I don't think you have anything to worry about there.  Changing the orientation of one or two characters is still not out of the picture yet, but you have to understand that the romances are still a minor part of the ME story as a whole.  All romances pander to certain audiences -- they are merely expanding this pandering to include m/m and more f/f.  To what degree, we don't know yet.  It seems kind of useless to bark at this fact, to me, because we know nothing basically.

I really don't think changing the orientation of a character or two, especially when these changes do not subtract from the narrative but rather just add, will not impact the overall story of ME.  Heck, I've been playing the last two games as a single male Shepard, but I still love the story to pieces.  It still has its flaws, but the romances are just tacked on to me.

In other words, even if these changes do happen, you should have more faith in Bioware's storytelling.  The romances aren't mandatory, and the story is still great without them.  Any former LIs will probably still love your Shepard, unless Bioware decides to break all of our hearts and end their lives.

Well damn you restored my faith in humanity a bit by being so nice; thank you very much! I appriciate having a nice conversation with someone for once.

Romances in general are a minor part to the game but in the final of the series I figure it would play a larger role based on what you're doing with whom; everything has some cheezy love thing at the end you know that xD. Regardless of that I do have faith in Bioware a little; but they kind of dropped the ball by making a few key mistakes in ME1 and 2; adding salt to the wound just would irate me further. I did love both games, and I do read the books over and over, I'm a junkie for it. I just don't feel like it would be right to make some characters gay. If one could make a decent argument without it sounding like """OH WELL YOU CANT PROVE BLAH BLAH BLAH""" then maybe I'd see it their way more; but so far most people supporting S/S are as you see here - very mean and narrow minded...

Maybe you can take a crack at it?

What's logical is having S/S romances in ME. Not everybody in life is straight, nor is everybody gay or bi. Everybody is of various orientations.

The fact that there hasnt been a M/M romance in any ME game to date concerns me. I understand BioWare didn't have time in the past to fully implement it.

However, I don't see where a problem would occur if Kaidan, or even Garrus for instance, revealed they were gay. As long as its written fine, it should make sense. It's not going to be gamebreaking at all, considering romances are 100% optional.

I myself am straight, and I really want to see genuine M/M romances in ME3. Enough, I'm done here. I think my point is pretty easy and clear.

I don't care about improving my standings with a group of people that are (from what I've seen so far) only have maybe three people capeable of looking beyond certian aspects of my writing or anyones for that matter; and trying to (in a decent manner) cope with the flaws in both logics and make a decent conversation plausable.

Saying ""WELL YOU CANT DISPROVE IT YOU HOMOPHOBE"" isn't going to get you anything but negativity. Not to say you personally do it - but thats why I'm pretty hostile toward certian groups.

On the contrary, we're perfectly capable of fighting for what is logical. Logic lies in understanding that nothing has been established until Bioware does so. Logic lies in understanding that characters who are open to one gender aren't necessarily closed to the other. Logic, finally, lies in the realisation that Bioware are perfectly capable of writing a compelling romance with existing characters.

Or, by logical, do you mean what benefits you and no one else?

I already thought Snake was bi...  Also, after twentyfive years of Mario and Links saving princesses and getting relatively little in return they may consider trying to save a prince for once.

Garrus - No

Kaidan / Jacob -- It would be semi lore breaking but I really don't like either of them enough to bother. And yeah that seems a bit contradicting to what I stated before but I don't consider either of them party members because 1.) I would have killed Kaidan and Ashley both if I had the chance and 2.) I chose the light mechs over Jacob.

I'd rather Kaidan stay straight, for my own selfish reasons, but I think BW could certainly come up with another male that's equally awesome (and gay). Couldn't they?

I'd love to have Kaidan as a s/s LI since it would finally give me a reason to play manshep.
I think the slow and subtle buildup gives depth to their romance would work very well in the context of the story
ME1: manshep being too busy fighting Saren/Sovereign/minions to pursue a relationship with a great guy and a crewmate who might not be interested in him/men and not wanting to make things awkward between them
ME2: finally getting the affirmation Shepard needed when he meets Kaidan on the Horizon and sees how hurt he is and then pursuing that relationship during ME3 when the proverbial sh*t hits the fan, since, you know, why the hell not?

IMO it just makes sense. No need to change Kaidan.

VirtualStranger is right.

Don't go saying some people who support S/S are being extremely rude but then going on to say "retards." You really think saying it makes you better than those who act disrespectful? You really "stoop to their level"?

It doesnt even matter who its directed at, "retard," "retards," "retarded" is just plain, extremely insulting not only to who you may have directed it at but others who may be handicapped in some way. If you claim to be respectful, then stop using the word "retard" like its cheap coin meant for spending.

*Make the characters bisexual, you mean.  I hate to be nitpicky over this, but it's really not the same thing.  I know what you mean, but I just wanna clear the air there.

My main argument for former characters becoming s/s (not all, two at most) actually has to do with another "a*spull" (I'm sure you can fill in the letter there lol) that was done in ME2 -- and that was Garrus and Tali.  A lot of fans enjoyed them in ME1, but they showed no former interest in Shepard.  All of a sudden, I play ME2, and Tali is getting all flustered when talking to my Shepard.  Garrus is suddenly a romance option for Femshep, while he even admits to not being attracted to humans.  Just Shepard.

I think most will agree that the Garrus and Tali romances were more or less given to the fans because they were popular characters.  Well, if the writers are going to give those fans a bone, I don't see why turning former LIs (especially Ash and Kaidan) into s/s would be a huge deal.  Garrus and Tali can apparently throw away the species barrier for Shepard, but the gender barrier seems to be stronger than that?  I don't know, that seems kinda silly to me.

Yes, they weren't available for s/s in ME1, I understand.   But making male Shepard able to flirt with males (which was impossible in the previous two games) would be somewhat of the same boat, wouldn't it?  I mean, why make male Shepard able to flirt with males now, in the third and final game of the Shepard arc? Why waste the effort?  As much as people say that Shepard is a vehicle for the player, he/she is only mostly that.  There are still elements of the character that make Shepard his/her own person.

Now, my preference for former LIs turning s/s stem from the narrative.  While the idea of finding that one new special person out there (where there was absolutely no one before) seems nice, I kind of like the idea of someone that you've known for quite a while to suddenly come around.  It's not really a matter of fair or not fair... but rather a love story that seems less tacked on and out of the blue (all romances feel tacked on to me, just to reiterate).  To compare, for example, it would be like all the ME1 fans of Garrus and Tali getting new romances in ME2, a new male Turian and a new female Quarian.  Sure, the alien romance is now an option, but... it's not the same character you fell in love with.  It's fanservice dealt in the coldest way possible.

Am I making sense?

You do have a point - but I'm never going to directly insult an actual "mentally handicapped person" but I will insult people who act like them when they are not. Its an insult to handicapped people everywhere.

And if anyone here IS in-fact Handicapped in anyway shape or form then I am sorry if I have insulted you; though if you feel insulted over a forum online I'm going to have a heavy laugh while still saying sorry.
