How major an antagonist do you want the Illusive Man to be?

I definitely hope that the Illusive Man is some sort of personification of the Reapers - a more relatable character for the player to interact with (ie. Shepard communicating with TIM instead of the Reapers, like Picard communicating with the Borg Queen instead of the entire Collective). I love the concept of a very foreign, very alien power needing to be dealt with, and I find it to be very annoying when writers invent an "emissary"-type character in order to make that alien force more relatable.
I want to engage with the Reapers at their level. Not through TIM or anyone else. I know he's referred to as a major antagonist, but I'm hoping that it isn't too significant a role.

I'm not willing to bet that T.I.M. being an antagonist means the same thing as him being a Reaper emissary. It seems to me that something fishy is going on with the Cerberus indoctrination plot.
Yeah, I imagine Cerberus and the Reapers are going to be seperate antagonists with different motives and agendas that both just happen to involove Shepard dying. I'm not convinced that Cerberus is with the Reapers, as every time some info saying that comes up one of the devs seems to say something that counteracts it.

We already know he's behind the deaths of countless innocents. Good enough?BatmanPWNS wrote...
I want to see him kill someone innocent. You know it would make him look more evil and give us a better reason to kill him more.

I'm hoping he's more of a "mid-boss" or even optional boss (perhaps you can convince him he's being a ******, for example) than the end-boss.

If he's working with a non-human entity, he's indoctrinated. I don't see him as one that is apt to negotiate with any enemy of humanity.... besides, we already saw that storyline with Saren.Eurhetemec wrote...
I don't think TIM will be a Reaper emissary. I would be unsurprised to see him as arrogant enough to think that he can somehow "work out a deal" with the Reapers, though, and end up effectively working from them, either with the proviso that the Reapers won't wipe out humanity entirely, or that they will make humanity into badass new Reapers and not the other races, or something.

I'm just really tired of Cerberus, and I don't feel that they should play too large of a role in a fight for the survival of, not only humanity, but every space-faring species in the galaxy. The Reaper-emissary thing is a worst case scenario. I want the game to feel like a sequel to ME1 more than ME2, since it's dealing with more ME1 issues and Cerberus seems to be shoehorned in.

also Loghain was able to join your cause after you beat him in the Landsmeet. Perhaps there will be that option with TIM

I'm hoping he doesn't join forces with the reapers/harbinger, but judging from his "save humans" convictions, and lack of regard for method, he probably will work out a deal with them.
Personally, I'd be fine with him not showing up in ME3 at all.
Edit: cleaned up wording, spacing a little.

Loved Loghain, but I would hate to see a similiar role filled by TIM.HTTP 404 wrote...
I want TIM to be akin to Loghain in DA:O. Loghain was the antagonist but he was not necassarily a bad guy, he's priorities were screwed up and still wanted the best for his country. I want to TIM to be more akin to that, where TIM truly believes he is saving mankind, etc.

I don't want to see another Cerberus-centric game - this is a battle against extinction, and I don't want to see another aside to distract from that. We've been waiting to fight the Reapers since Virmire... any TIM-centric story just seems as if it would detract from that.

True, but given how major a villain the Reapers are... his relative importance could be quite insignificant. (It won't be, but I can hope. ;p)BP20125810 wrote...
They have already said he is the main villain, besides the reapers, of course.

I agree with that, I still want TIM to be like Loghain and I wouldn't mind if his role was not as major in Me3.

And I'm betting the scene where you kill TIM will be epic, set in front of a blue sun backdrop(because, ya know...) and with a single shot to the forehead.

At about the same time-point, Renegades should be able to fight some epic Reaper-thing to free TIM from their control, thus bringing Cerberus back around to the side of humanity (or at least TIM's twisted vision of it). This would allowing Renegade-Shep to use Cerberus' inexplicably enormous army to retake Earth, and the secrets of the Collector Base to destroy the Reapers. Alternately, Renegades could have to mercy-kill TIM and take over Cerberus in his place ("Thank you, Shepard. I knew you would do what must be done.") to save the galaxy...and take it over.

I'm going with the assumption that TIM's exposure to the Reaper artifact did more than just give him sweet eyes and he is in fact being controlled by the Reapers. That said, I'm betting TIM/Cerberus will be a threat for most of the game, interfering with most of the major missions. You'll then have to take down TIM to dismantle Cerberus so they can't impede you any further.

Like with Paul Grayson, he might be able to sense the reapers whereabouts in dark space. It might be possible that when they move closer towards his position TIM gets more and more indoctrinated to the point where Saren was.

Second choice would be a Saren-type endgame moment where we can try to talk him down( with better results hopefully)
