I'm unfamiliar with Troy Denning's contribution. The only extended universe I ever read was Drew Karyshyn's Darth Bane novels.

However I recall reading a story that Disney was doing away with all of it anyways...

The guy who took a look to an art gallery and could dissect any species psychology but had villain balls the size of a planet? Please. Only thing more pathetic was Leia apologizing to Mara for having ruined her life by killing the Emperor. Don´t get how those 2 were so popular in that trilogy, what a pair of author pets.

Both are better than any character in the prequel films. So, there is that.

The hell they are. Mara especially, unrepentant about her past being the executioner of the worst person in the galaxy. Or Thrawn's I'm totally not like Vader, because I overexplain it before gutting those who fail me. Thrawn's trilogy read like fanfic. Much of the early EU did for that matter, was quite dissapointed by most of it.

On the contrary, it's just as incestuous (and even more so). Also, pretty ****** creepy.

I don't like shipping, but I would certainly be OK with Jon/Val compared to the incestuous ships of Dany/Jon, Arya/Jon, and Sansa/Jon. Arya may be Jon's cousin (probably) but that doesn't make the prospect any less eerie considering the fact that Arya resembles Lyanna. As for the Dany/Jon ship? They're aunt and nephew. Jon/Sansa? It's true that Sansa doesn't resemble Lyanna… yet she does resemble Catelyn, so yeah, there's that.

Yeah but that seems to only extend to siblings. For instance Tywin married his Cousin Joanna and nobody said anything negative about that.

 

Although that might of had more to do with the fact that you don't talk **** about Tywin.
