Sibling and parental incest is the only incest not okay with the Seven and Old Gods.
Tywin's wife was his first cousin.
And Lysa wanted to marry her son off to Sansa.
So yeah.
Targs were the only ones who got away with the sibling marriages in Westeros.
That's hardly a Westeros-only thing; marriage between first cousins is currently legal almost all around the world, and is very common in the Middle East.
But most of it is. And Tywin's case certainly wasn't common across Westeros.
Immediate family is, but in Westeros as well as in the real world for most of history, cousins aren't off limits. Among nobility and royalty, it was often expected, even a preferred match.

Was very common among nobility in the middle and modern ages. Look up Charles II of Spain for the final consequences.
I'd like to get this, but I'm almost ready to start boycotting until "Winds of Winter" is published. He needs to think more of the fan base that has made him so rich.

Fans didn't buy the books for Martin's sake. They bought them to read them. Which they did. We should be thanking Martin for making the books in the first place, not harassing him to to make another.

Martin is a god amongst release dates compared to Miura
I apologize if I sounded disrespectful. He is a wonderful writer. But he has been spreading so much time over other projects and his website always points out the latest memorabilia you can buy, so some of his readers are getting restless. It is his right to write or not write whatever he chooses. But He really can't really blame his readers for being disappointed. The next book is not even scheduled to publish this year. It doesn't help that the HBO series is starting
to look more porn driven than story driven.
He's 66 now. It can't be getting any easier for him.
Luckily, we’ve been talking about this with George for a long time, ever since we saw this could happen, and we know where things are heading. And so we’ll eventually, basically, meet up at pretty much the same place where George is going; there might be a few deviations along the route, but we’re heading towards the same destination. I kind of wish that there were some things we didn’t have to spoil, but we’re kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place. The show must go on. . .and that’s what we’re going to do.
I think the thing that’s kind of fun for George is the idea that he can still have surprises for people even once they’ve watched the show through to the conclusion. There are certain things that are going to happen in the books that are different in the show, and I think people who love the show and want more—want to know more about the characters, want to know more about the different characters who might not have made the cut for the show—will be able to turn to the books.
Darn. I mean, well, it's not a huge inconvenience. Like 99% of AOIAF fans, I started with the show, so. And Benioff's right, at least for me, in that even after the show's finished I'll return to the books to read how George has chosen to conclude it.

99%? Bit inflated number, eh? Don't forget that GoT only became a thing because the books were selling like crazy, not the other way around.
But I concur that it's not an inconvenience, I'll just do the same thing as always and ignore the TV show and wait for the proper book. Unless some idiot screams spoilers where I can't help but overhear it, I'm save.

99% is a colossally inflated percentage, hahaha. Consider the fact that Dragon Age was partially inspired by A Song of Ice and Fire;back in the early days of DAO dev and its release, the ASOIAF fans were talking about it and comparing. The books certainly had less readers then than it does post GoT the program, but I believe its still safe to say that most readers of the books picked up the series before the show began. If not most, then a large percentage. As for total fans of the ASOIAF series(with or without reading the books), then yeah a significant portion comes from the show.
