Just got to the first Arya chapter in DwD, so I think the timeline has now caught up... got about 1/4 left of the book, and I'm already feeling antsy because I know I'll be done in a day or two and I'll have years to wait *sobs* Is there such a thing as preemptive depression?
Around 73% here and I feel the same... To answer your question I think it's called 'pessimism', Dolorous Edd is our patron saint!!!

How far in are you? Because it does get better... I left my copy of this book in the bathroom and would pick it up and re-read fragments of it every now and then... And that way grew to appreciate it more... I know... I need help!!!

AFfC is slow to start especially because it dumps the already existing minor characters on you like Sam and then the adds in the Dorne plot which seems to go no where for a long time.
I'm only about 150 pages in ADwD but it truly feels like the second half to AFfC- I know it basically is, but I wouldn't doubt it if somebody tries to edit the 2 books together, cause they really feel like they should be stitched together.
Cause the way the first 3 books went back and forth from the various plots and locations kept everything fresh, while in AFfC, you're lacking certain characters which (IMO) makes it so certain plots get a bit stale, especially when everything seems so disconnected from each other.
I'll just be very curious if GRRM can wrap this up in only 2 books. With the glacial pace of how events are unfolding I'm skeptical. Unless he resorts to having The Winds of Winter start out with a time jump or something of the sort. Because didn't he say somewhere how ADwD (or maybe it was AFfC) would start like 5 years after ASoS?

I am enjoying reading the old favorites- haven't gotten to Arya yet- looking forward to that. Oh and got a big surprise today reading Tyrion's chapters. Sneaky, GRRM! Sneaky!!!

Speaking of HODOR, here is a nice Lego version of Bran riding on Hodor's back with Sansa and Rickon

Though GRRM's been a bit of a **** on the killing substantial characters front since aGoT, so 50/50 chance that this is just another cliffhanger on a character's presumed doom only to discover they remarkably escaped death by their next chapter. I'd be happy if that were the case, but I'd respect GRRM more if he stuck to his guns and left them dead.

New things I learned today - a drop of dragon blood is clearly not enough.
edited to add ->
Some more Game of Thrones lego goodness. Jaime and Littlefinger are better than Ned's.

At still only around halfway through, this thread has become too dangerous for me. Will have to sign off until I finish.

...
I won't ask since I'm only on about page 180, but I have a theory in my head that I hope that exclamation means what I think it means after reading how things went down in Jon's 3rd chapter

I never knew it was possible to despise the Boltons even more. Daddy Bolton really makes my skin crawl and the son needs to meet with something painful soon.

It's still better than A Feast for Crows.
Also, anyone else notice the impending Greyscale plague that's going to hit Westeros?

Also, massive eyeroll at Aegon.
I should have expected something like that since book 2. Dany´s vision is about a dragon wih 3 heads. She´s one, R+L=J might be another (depending on how the cliffhanger is resolved), so it should have been obvious there was another living Targaryen.
Hope Aegon takes after Egg from the short tales.

I knew some people would eyeroll about Aegon, but I'm glad GRRM is not one of those people. Love the Targaryens, so far love this little guy, and I do hope he takes after Egg.
Dany's chapters.. I'm having a hard time with them.
