Quick question,

If ME3 is set to release on March 6th, 2012 when will the game actually be finished? I don't know a lot about the development cycle of video games but one would think the amount of time required to make last minute adjustments, certify, manufacture and ship the game and all it's contents, (case, manual, collectors items etc..) would be upwards of a month, no?
As excited as I am for ME3 the wait is a killer; thankfully there are lots of great games coming out until then, (Rage, Battlefield 3, GoW 3, Halo: Ann., etc...)

Your thoughts?

I am pretty sure the game was playable to the end around December or that is at least what I heard. Otherwise I believe Christina Norman said that game was already done when she had left for some reason or another recently.

So I wonder if the game was complete in December the next couple of months would be devoted towards what? Polishing the game? Depending on the idea I believe it's probably a little to late to make significant changes, no?

If you follow the various developers on Twitter (and not just Casey Hudson), you'd see that they are far from done... they're still talking among themselves about level design, character design, etc.

I'd say the game is hardly finished if they're still talking about various critical things like level design of certain locations.

For one, once the game is done, you still have testing and bug fixing to do before release.

Most of it's assets were in the 4th stage of development (out of five) by December.

The game is technically playable from the start to finish right now, but as the demos showed, it's still far from complete. The soundtrack wasn't done, with all music being repeats from 2, and some VO lines like Mordin's only had place holder dialogue from Mark Meer instead of the actual VAs.

The soundtrack is actually rarely completed before the very final months of development.
