Okay, that clarify your query better. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but if it was me I would simply have returned the first lot (in any country I have ever lived in, retail law supports this) and stood my ground if the store staff became antsy. After that, buy a brand new one. Possibly even from the same store if they treated you well!
The EA rep was very poor (which rates about 0.0 on my
Surprise-O-Meter) in telling you that it probably wouldn't work. If you had the originals and proof of purchase you are entitled to at least a replacement or possibly a full refund (depending on where and when you bought it), as long as you have proof of purchase. Hindsight again, sorry.
If you are still missing codes, contact EA directly again. Do as much research as practicable first.
