I'm just going to assume that we can only save three of them before triggering the endgame and you can't save the Batarians at all. The description of the game says we cna't save everyone and odds are that one or two civilizations die with each race we save.

I think it says we can't save everyone because it's referring to sentient space-faring species as a whole, so heavy losses across the board.
I doubt in the time we're fighting with the Reapers they'd manage a full extermination of a race, maybe heavy damage but still far from genocide.

All but one, or two.

Of course, the unloved races (hello, vorcha) might all get wiped out anyway as a way to show the Reapers are a serious threat without killing off a race almost everybody loves.

I agree but I'm planning on letting the reapers kill off the Asari and Salarians since the demo showed Mordin saying that we need both the Krogan and Turians. Plus I'd want the Quarians and Geth to unite to assist the Turians.

I think with an ideal run you'll be able to save everyone. You will just have to really, really earn it.

Quite a few people thought we wouldn't be able to save everyone in ME2 during the suicide mission and look how that turned out...

The Turians and the Krogans will be saved at ALL COSTS! I don't care who has to be sacrificed, including the humans, hell especially the humans. They are so dull in the ME universe. After the Turians and Krogans are guaranteed safety, in order of importance I'll try to save the Geth, Quarians, humans, Asari, and the Salarians will be attempted to be saved. The Volus and everyone else will be sacrificial lambs in all my profiles except for the one where I do everything wrong on purpose,

I'd do it because of the squadmates. I don't mean that to sound sefishly though.

Turians for Garrus
Humanity (Miranda, Jack, Jacob, Ashley & Shepard)
Toss up between Geth/Quarian
Despite what Liara did, I'll probably save Asari as well

I'm striving to save every single race out there. As much as I may dislike one or two...

Optimus Prime: Freedom is the right of all sentient beings.

Well The council itself is dead the turian councilor I want an I told you so moment right before the end. I want to save all if possible and then try everything else. Batarians not up there on the save list vorcha can live without them. Asari can go as well.

All of them - this leaves it open for Bioware to decide which ones were hurt so badly that they're non-entities after the first three games, which ones gain power, etc.

All of them, I think (at least the major races - not sure about the Batarians).

I say all of them depending on your previous choices in the past 2 games and in mass effect 3 and also which side missions you got to complete the right way.

Another thing to consider with the "you can't save everyone" line....

That may not be talking about preventing a race from being exterminated completely.  In short, you can't save every planet or the lives of everyone.

I think it will be possible to prevent the extinction of any major races if you make the right choices.

That, basically.

The batarians will be in a bad way, but remember This is a galaxy. Having your species civilization and independence destroyed in one thing. Total extinction is another.

Yeah, but with that came the "Is it possible to kill everyone as well"? My question is: why would they have NOT had that as a possibility. Alas, many thought it was impossible, but after finding out it was and how to do it, they now say BW went the wrong way about it.

That's almost like saying: It's BW's fault if the player found an "exploit" as that is how most are treating the "everyone can die" thing. (ie: "I know how to kill everyone now!")

I'm in no means attacking BW; I'm merely noting people's reactions.

This.

Most of the races have colonies and major races have even multiple of them. It would require from Reapers to destroy/conquer everyone one of those colonies and homeworlds in order to extinct the race. And I doubt that's going to happen. Yes, you could lose races homeworlds and that way majority of the civilization, but extinction of the whole race? Unlikely.

So, it would really be matter of which races and their populations are so damaged that they can't be count as viable civilization any more.

Well, it's probably possible that you can save all of them, but you're definitely going to have to have made all of the right choices.
