then again I hope there is some variety

It's not surprising really, that Cerberus would end up making things more difficult for Shepard in ME3. You're frequently given signs throughout ME2 that Shepard's value to them is very subjective. Too many times Cerberus is quick to hang over our heads what they did for Shepard. I know my Akuze Survivor Shepard's going to leave a lot of dead Cerberus agents as a thank you. Pity them all who come after her.

40% of the enemiesImage IPB, they most of started to clone humans or something (I mean they can clone Krogans why not humans?). That or parts of the alliance split off and joined them. I mean after spending the bucks on bringing Shep back to life and building the Normandy the have to hurting on the money. I'm hoping there some kind of coup in cerberus and TIM will still be there to help us out, cause I mean he it would be nice to have him on your side fighting the reapers rather than trying to kill you.

I'm just hoping they come up with more than 6 or 7 enemies this time.

I was really disappointed in ME2, especially since of those 6-7 enemies, almost all of them fight identically and are effectively just reskins as far as combat goes. You've got normal fighter (Mercs, Collectors, named characters, Star Wars Droids), Animal/Husks, Krogan, and big-robot.

A Dev mentioned here in the forums during E3 that there's something like 7 different cerberus enemy units to fight (he listed them even).

Now consider there's (probably) close to that many different Reaper infantry units (all the different types of husks and other reaper units we haven't seen yet)... combined with the various mercenary types.... plus the various geth units (saw at least 3 or 4 different Geth units in that 'leaked' early gameplay footage)... plus the various different mechs.... etc etc.... I think people are making / worrying too much about this.... it seems there will be considerably enemy unit diversity.

That depends.

The Mercs,  Collectors,  named characters,  and star wars droids were all visually distinct,  but in combat,  they all functioned pretty much identically.  What difference was there between a merc and a collector?  They both ran for the nearest cover,  both fired for a few seconds,  both paused for a few seconds crouching,  neither tried to use any tactics,  aside from the textures it was fighting the exact same unit.

So while it sounds good to say there's variety,  if it's all the same AI with just different textures,  it gets old fast.  Every combat in ME2 could be approached and won in the exact same method with only a couple of exceptions.

POSSIBLE SPOILER!!!

I would suspect that the Reapers are using them as ground troops and that's why they make up such a large percentage of our enemies.

The Collectors did have those golden / yellow Shields. Also Combat Drones and Flashbangs add a bit of spice.

And if Arrival was anything to go by, I'm hoping that we will see many improvements to AI anyway in ME3.

As long as that 40% aren;t the same types.

There are supposed to have greater variety even within Cerberus (Shock troopers, assassins, engineers, etc.) who all behave differently.

Little bummed. But the sheer awesomeness factor of Cannibals, and the promise of other race specific husk-variants has me super pumped for the other 60%.

I have a whole game of not killing Cerberus to make up for. 40% doesn't seem like *enough*.

ME1 could be approached the same way too. Hold down mouse 1.

Nah, it's alright. ME2 worked with over half of the game fighting mercs and mechs, so.

I kind of hate Cerberus, but for all the wrong reasons. Their involvement in everything always felt very artificial. An unlikeable group of unlikeable characters with the sole purpose to make the audience frustrated, a cheap, boring proxy antagonist. Why are they the subject matter of almost all the books and much of the comics, and now such an important part of the grand finale? I mean, do people really find them that interesting?

I am not dissapointed... just think it makes little sense.
You kind of don't make 2 games saying that an organisation is shadow ops, small organisation, secretive and **** and in the third make them a bloody army.

Just say COBRA in place of Cerberus and it all makes sense.  Heck you are Serpentor and you surprise surprise turned on Cobra Commander.  But this is the universe where people put SPY(Specter logo) on their sleave when they are a SPY.(Ashley)

I wouldn't put it past them. (Husks, creepers, rachni, Akuze, etc. etc.)

I do feel bad for Renegade players who embraced Cerberus, and hope they can take control of the organization or slap some sense into TIM. As a Paragon player, though...I am really, really looking forward to slapping Singularities on as many Cerberus murderers as I can get my biotics on. Going to take Jack with me as often as practical, too.Image IPB

Cerberus sudden number increase does make us wonder how they managed to do so in such a short time.

Yeah. I should add that I'm frustrated and a bit puzzled.

I'm not so much. Consider: You spent nearly the entire game of ME2 finding salvage for Cerberus along with research, resources and doing missions for them. You probably helped them out a /lot/.

No, and you shouldn't either.

There's a good storyline behind them, and there are a lot of different types of Cerberus operatives.

They may be a good chunk of the enemies, but (as Phaedon showed) there's a great variety for them.

I figure that most of the Cerberus troops are just human mercs.

If I see just one hostile Blue Suns, Eclipse or Bloodpack merc going hostile on me, I WILL be running out of Heavy Weappons ammo ... FAST!
