Well, whenever someone brings up a counter argument, the s/s supporters come down hard on them.

You thought I was going to ignore your post and then you reply with this?

LOL.

9 times out of 10, a counter argument can easily be countered as well and many of the times, the person against s/s romance is all, EVERTHING WILL BE RUINED OMG!!! or throw those gays out the airlock!!111.

Yeah, so I brought this up before and it was shut down. I am going to do it again. Add a freaking preference option in the game so people can choose what they wish to see. If someone does not want to be subject to same sex romance they do not have to and vice versa. It seems like a simple solution that will make everyone happy. The voice actors are going to record both if they were bisexual anyways so no money lost.

Except it's a giant insult to the writers.

If they get a Gay Toggle, then I want a toggle to turn everyone into ponies.:wizard:

Is anyone acting as though lesbians and homosexual have never been included in a game before? I haven't gotten that impression, but again, I haven't been taking the thread seriously for the most part (it's really, really, hard to, to be honest). And you know what? I think it's perfectly fine to oppose making current LIs bisexual. Some of my friends are against it. I'm even against it in some cases (Ashley, Jack) and fully support it in other cases (Kaidan, Miranda). I think an all-bisexual squad is not an ideal solution, but I also support other people's right to feel differently, to respectfully disagree with me. I personally dislike all non-asari alien romances. I would never pursue romance with Tali, Garrus or Thane. It just seems completely beyond the pale. But the fact that those options exist takes nothing away from my gaming experience, in fact, I'd say their existence adds MORE meaning to my choices. My selecting another choice, I affirm that character's identity further, and differentiate him or her from my other characters. And the fact that I select Ashley over Tali, Miranda, Liara, AND Jack has a lot more weight than if I select Ashley over Liara. Ashley is chosen because she's Ashley, not because she's the human girl. Does that make sense? The same would be true of a s/s option. Your Shepard's decision to pursue a straight romance is enhanced by his ability to NOT select a s/s romance. Right now he's straight because he hasn't had a choice. Once he has a choice, he can REALLY be straight.

Not exactly this thread, but in many threads, it's the s/s supporters who are posting things like:

"This thread is stupid!"
"This thread needs to be locked!"
"OP is a troll!"

A couple of other statements I can't remember, and calling people homophobes. And I have no problem with s/s options, but making current LIs bi takes away from structure and believability.

I feel like for the crybabies sake, Shep and Joker should become the next Ambiguously Gay Duo.
Think about all those times Joker has "saved your ass" and how he drops you "deeply in to hostile territory" to which you congratulate him on how to drop a load. How he needs more human interaction in the cockpit. How Shep risked his life making sure Joker could get off just in time.

I think "entitled" would be a better word to call people who start threads like this.

@The Big Bad Wolf: I'm gay, and I couldn't really care less about LI's at this stage. I think it's just cool to be getting one - don't care who it ends up being (my vote would be the Big Ben sniper - but I digress).

But, this whole believability thing reminds me of a scene in Firefly.

"Wash": That sounds like something out of science fiction!
Zoe: You live on a space ship dear.

The consort had sex with me. Not to mention Liara hitting on me without my consent, or pretty much every asari in the game touching me. And you know what? I don't care. And I find it funny to see a bunch of grown ass men throwing a fit because a fictional character hit on them in a videogame.

Valid points but asari are considered "not exactly a woman" as Liara put it.  Anyways, I still vote for my preference option.  It is the only thing that will satisfy everyone.

I don't see every single person that is against saying that everything will be ruined. I, for one, don't feel that way at all.

And it's the truth. It seems that no one is allowed to disagree without being called a troll (unless they are obvious, which is an exception), homophobe, or a bigot. This is why I don't post on the main s/s thread. I don't want to be called a homophobe just for disagreeing on an aspect of a video game.

You can't make both sides happy

end game results LI were portrayed as hetro but s/s supporters want to find any excuse even going so far as to say BW owes them for not allowing them to romance so and so for 1 - 3 games or they were holding it back for same sexed shep to justify those previously portrayed hetro to become s/s options for 3.

Those apposed to past LI changing to s/s options want what the game established through character development or to hold true these characters end game slept with opposite sexed shep and stopped speaking to same sexed shep.

The only happy option the anti s/s crowd will be happy with is brand new characters are s/s options for 3. And all past LI to remain hetro.

While the only thing s/s supporters will be happy with is everybody from the past two games plus the new characters for 3 be s/s options

As another poster put it

the "gay until proven straight" argument allows for no one to be heterosexual, not even someone who lives their entire life having never had sex with a person of the same gender, because they must have simply repressed a bisexuality that is evident by the fact that it was never refuted, which cannot be done.

But the "straight until proven bisexual" paradigm, that one's okay, right?

Many of you seem to think that pro s/s people are of one mind about the subject, and you couldn't be more wrong. Well, you could be more wrong, but you'd have to try. Not everyone who supports s/s inclusion is a "my way or the highway" type, though of course we have some people who do espouse the most open options. Many of us would be happy with one or two s/s options. Many of us would accept new characters. And many of us would be most happy if everyone would just freakin' relax, and trust BioWare to do the right thing by these characters, regardless of which direction they decide to take them. If you don't trust BioWare enough to do that, then why do you bother playing their games and posting in their forums? There are better cover-based shooters out there, and better "pure" RPGs.

From the players and FemShep's perspective, Asari is a woman. Nobody cares what they consider themselves to be. They could think they're whales. With the female boobs, female voices, faces, figures and the way they referr to each other with female terms makes them women to everyone else in the galaxy and to us the players.

I'd imagine that Shepard would have to be careful with Joker's bones. :D

No but really there is way too many topics about this.

OMG, I'm having 2008 flashbacks. Asari are female, people. You know people who get pregnant and have babies? Those people are FEMALE. It's kind of the definition. Take a biology class, why don'tcha.

Liara can consider them to be whatever they want. But they are still women. Coloring them blue and sticking a doodad on their head isn't going to fix that.

@The Big Bad Wolf: Were you upset when we were told that Tali was collecting parts of Geth when in ME 1 we're told that it's next to impossible?

How about Legion and the Heretic geth - those are obvious continuity flaws.

Liara's complete personality change?

What about the whole railroading into Cerberus... my Shepard didn't die at the end of ME1, and I'm pretty sure yours didn't either.

So... why are all these alterations to characters okay?

There are plenty of people who will have a civil debate with you, unless you think that disagreeing and bringing our counter points to yours is our way of branding you a homophobe.

Sigh, the above person mention asari so I gave him an asari reference.  None of my Shepards have been with Liara.

Listen, I am not trying to stir a gay pride parade on the forums.  I am just trying to help answer the OP's question of How we can make both sides happy and not lose any fans?  It feels like anytime a heterosexual makes any comments the pitchforks and burning at the stakes begins.  Maybe people need to be more sensitive to everyone's opinions.

That's because I've yet to see one argument against "existing character" bisexuality that didn't ultimately stem from homophobia. Seriously, you think it would "takes away from structure and believability"? How so? And how is it any less "believable" than Garrus and Tali's "sudden" feelings for Shepard in ME2? Please, explain it to me.

And if your arguement looks anything like this:

Luc0s wrote...

You know what I think the big difference between Tali & Garrus versus Kaidan is? From friends with the opposite gender it would be unexpected when they suddenly have a crush on you, but from your bro who has the same gender as you it would be EVEN MORE UNEXPECTED.

Then, yeah, I'm going to accuse you of being just a touch homophobic.
