The omni-tool blade. That makes NO SENSE WHATSOEVER.

Omni-blade works perfectly within pre-established lore of the game.

Mass Effect fields are capable of generating barriers capable of stopping bullets and holding the environment within a ship. They can thus generate a field that if made very thin can cut through flesh.

This is gonna go down 2 ways for Bioware.

1. They man up and announce that only new characters are being established as Bi and the flamewars and hate threads die down.

or

2. They announce they are turning everyone Bi DAII style and the forum erupts into flames and ME3 blows up in their faces.

Which is why Iam going to kick back and do this.

I'll respond to these in opposite order.

4) Oh that? Yeah, that felt kind of lame.

3) If I recall, that's from the Codex, and the Codex is knid of ****ty.

And I'll add another one:

The omni-tool blade. That makes NO SENSE WHATSOEVER.

But it JUST LOOKS SO COOL! ;)

Actually, the second any MALE character is announced as a S/S romance this what we'll get

"THAT FRUIT BETTER NOT HIT ON ME"

Now make that a thread. Now imagine that thread as a billion threads, now imagine those billions of threads all over the forum.

@TexasToast - DA2 doesn't suck because everyone is "Bi" - it just sucks, moving on.

I find it particularly hilarious that catering to a narrow-minded viewpoint is considered taking a 'brave' stance. When in actuality "manning up" in this instance would truly be BioWare doing whatever the hell they want to with these characters.

And even though I can't "man up", ever, I'm at least glad that I can "woman up" if I have to. I can be brave AND attractive at the same time. :D

Honestly, just make the romances like Fenris.

Unless you actively hit on him you'd never know he's a BI love interest.

I'm pretty sure ME3 won't blow up in their faces because a bunch of sphinctersorrowful forum visitors.

Romances are a small part of the game, brah.

Tell that to DAII. The forums can be a powerful thing my friend.

"Bro" spelled backwards is Orb. Which is round. Round things are circular. Like this discussion. ;)

The game didn't suck because of the bi love interests.   Have you actually read any reviews of the game, or have you just been reading the ****** on this forum?

The opinion of a few butt devastated straight guys who felt violated didn't phase Bioware in the least.  The criticism of the game mechanics is what they have listened to.

You're not as powerful as you think.

Yeah.  Wasn't Gaider fairly widely praised for slamming the homophobic backlash on the forums?  I don't suppose we have any numbers or anything, but I will certainly agree that the bisexual love interests were not what was wrong with DA2.

I admit, the Tali and Garrus romance was fan service. But I played ME2 first and did not know they weren't romanceable in ME1, until I played it.

But since that's in the game, there's nothing to say about that, is there?

And making characters less believable doesn't just apply to their sexuality.

But how, exactly, does changing Kaidan's sexuality less "believable" than changing Tali and Garrus' attraction to Shepard? Why exactly would you view Kaidan's attraction to manShep a "retcon," even though to actually "retcon" anything, it would have to contradict something? How would bisexuality make Kaidan less "believable" as a character in a work of fiction?

I forgot to answer that part. Sorry about that.

"Characters in a work of fiction", as you put it, are not real. Though they are not real, and the writers want to give the characters a sense of realism, so they have to have a sort of structure, which in turn is part of believability. The structure is made of many factors, and since Mass Effect has romances (which sexuality is a part of), sexuality is one of them. You may argue that people may reveal that they like others of the same sex in real life. This is not real life, so not all of the rules apply. Characters should be established from the beginning, when it comes to romances. Not having Kaidan be bi in the beginning, but making him bi in ME3 takes away from that establishment, which in turn takes away from the structure.

You mean to suppose that it was because Anders hit on men in DA2 whereas he didn't in Awakening that was the reason DA2 "blew up in their faces"? That's one enormous [citation needed] right there.

Far as I could tell, Anders hitting on men was a very minor complaint among the complaints DA2 got, and that it broke from his 'established character' was hardly mentioned at all even by the people complaining. It was mostly just "eww, he hit on me!"

And again I reiterate that the bisexual love interests do not factor into why the game failed, dude.  For one saying that I don't read the forums, you didn't read my post at all.

This is a false dichotomy, like utterly. Laughably so. Its just so in your face about its false dichotomy-ness. They can make Kaidan gay, without making Jacob gay. The idea that it has to be all or nothing is just wrong and not helping.

Also the term "man up". They could easily "man up" and announce that they are turning everyone Bi DA2 style.

I support S/S. Which characters doesn't matter to me so long as Bioware come up with a good reason for it.

EDIT: When I say all or nothing I mean, All the ME1/ME2 characters or none of the ME1/ME2 characters.
