The problem is that some people DONT WANT to see gay content in any way, shape or form. They don't want Garrus to come onto them, because by now most people who play ManShep see Garrus as Shepard's bro. You can't make them unhappy just to please a part of the fanbase that wants to see the gay content. If it's a new character and his personality allows him to be brave enough to come onto Shepard, then that's absolutely FINE. However, for long-term characters like Garrus, some people just don't want to see gay content related to him in any way shape or form. hence, it should be Shepard to initiate the relationship.
The point comes down to this: If there's an option for Shepard to be gay, that's fine by me. But I do NOT want to see gay content in my playthrough of ME3 at all. I do NOT want to see Garrus coming onto me. I'd be fine with James or someone new doing it, but not somebody that has been on the team already. Otherwise, Shepard would have to initiate the romance.
You say that old characters becoming bisexual LI will somehow irrevocably change into something they weren't before, yet you seem to ignore that real people do this all the time.
Tell me, what's the difference between someone becoming a bi LI, and automatically cooling heat sinks becoming disposable heatsinks that need to be swapped out?
You claim to not want to ever be forced to see gay content if you dont want to, but you fail to see how it is for gay players to be forced to see straight content that they don't want to. (which they already are, all the time, everywhere they go) Why you don't wan't to see it, I have no Idea. You have a "I'm fine with gay people in the game, but I don't want to see it" attitude, which is very insulting.
You are a victim of heterosexual privilidge and you don't realize it. You have been conditioned by society to only think of bigotry and discrimination in the terms of blatant rudeness, when most of the time it is much more subtle than that. "Priviledge" refers to the way society confers power from one group to another. You have lived with that priviledge all throughout your life, so you find it impossible to put yourself in the position of those who haven't.
To fix that, I'd start by reading this: http://www.cs.earlha...htprivilege.htm

I think the only one who actually states she isn’t interested in S/S is Jack. Just because a character doesn’t hit on or make comments about someone of the same sex in your presence doesn’t mean they are straight. That said I think a romance should be player initiated. All of them, whatever gender. So no one gets unwanted flirting. Doesn’t need to be with a really obvious completely unsubtle come on by Shepard, it just needs to be obvious in the dialogue wheel that that option will enable the romance. That’s not to say they can’t express their sexuality or comment on other characters. They just don’t hit on the player. It’s not a huge deal but I don’t like being hit on or having to reject someone in real life and honestly would rather not deal with that in the game either. Especially not with previous characters who are close friends with my Shepard.

Don't you think it's because none of us could ever get a date in real life?
La Tour - People Are Still Having Sex - (where do you want to go tonight?)
If those people on the second part of this slide show can get a date in real life, as it shows they can, then absolutely anyone can do too!!! (of course for those in the first part it should be a lot easier!)

Some of the posts I read from the OP, and from King Zeel (well known troll), and The Big Bad Wolf (unsurprisingly) were outright offensive and I am rendered speechless by them and find I cant really respond directly.
I am only going to say that diversity is something that Bioware thankfully acknowledge and wish to support in their games; by that token SS content WILL be in the game for ManShep. If only because its hugely unfair that FemShep gets to be a big lesbian and ManShep is railroaded into being a breeder.
I am gay myself, and I find that I tend to explore most if not all of the available romances in the game. Romanced Ashley, Liara, and Kaidan. In ME2 I romanced Tali, Miranda, Jack, Garrus, and Thane. I avoided Jacob like the plague as FemShep.
There were some interactions that I felt were distinctly SS feeling and when they didnt bear fruit it was a little dissapointing. Kaidan and ManShep; Thane and ManShep; Jack and FemShep.
And the Garrus/Tali romances were horrendous to me for the simple reason that they arent sexually compatible with humans due to their dextro DNA; and also their reasons for being attracted to Shepard (they are effectively ShepardSexual) apply to both MaleShepard and FemaleShepard equally and yet the relationship option only pops up OS. Not that i would have romanced them if I was SS because the romances were horrendous.
I just want the romances to not be horrendous. Again.
This isnt an issue (ss romances) I think you can compromise on; either the game has SS content or it doesnt. And its going to have it so theres nout the haters can do about it.

Tell me right now where it is that I don't agree with you.
I agree with s/s romances, all right? But I do NOT agree with the existing characters being the ones who initiate the content in the first place. As I have repeated countless, countless times, NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO SEE GAY CONTENT IN MASS EFFECT. It wasn't in Mass Effect 1, It wasn't in Mass Effect 2, and if it's going to be in Mass Effect 3, I don't want any of the existing characters to come onto Shepard, because I like them just as they are now.
The only characters who should ever initiate gay content in Mass Effect are the new ones, because their personalities allow that since they are still developing characters. What I'M saying is that people have grown attached to old characters, and some people don't ever want to see gay content in Mass Effect at all, especially for the characters they've come to love, which is why that content should never appear for old characters unless the player initiates it.
If I have offended you, it was purely by mistake, and I apologize.

True but at this point any discussion on the matter is pointless.
Most people are approaching it based on their personal feelings; so they're not going to change their opinions. Given that it has been, and will continue to be a back-and-forth of "You're a homophobe!" - "I'm not a homophobe!"
