This whole forum lacks sanity. I'm trying to talk to people and everyone's going "BAWW ANOTHER THREAD LETS **** AND MOAN ABOUT HOW NOT EVERYONE SUPPORTS S/S ROMANCE"

At least give me a chance. I'm trying to respond to people who seem interested in actually discussing this issue with me.

As this whole thread has turend into a sh*tstorm can I just figure out your stance on this disscussion?
Your saying that you have no problem with S/S romances unless it results in a drastic change of a character's personailty?
If thats the case then I don't see what all the fuss is about....
But correct me if I'm wrong.

This thread began insane already. You are welcome to try, though... Anybody is. But it's so sad to say that I've completely lost my hope to change their minds. I can't understand why is a video-game more important than people's values.

They don't even need to change their minds, they just need to accept that things are a little more equal now. Not much more, but more than it was. Acceptance is all that's really needed.

That's what I said before. They don't need to understand... Just to accept it and move on.

i agree. people's values are more important than a good/bad/whatever video game. a game is a game. you can reply it at any time. people are different like each and every game character

I, for one, welcome our homosexual overlords.

I blame the conversation wheel in DA2.  It made more people accidentally gay than all the beer in human history.

I blame the "X" button for being both skip dialogue and alternative answer.  Thats the "problem" with bi things, they are never what you want when you want it.

Ok, I didn't read the first two paragraphs because I am already with a headache; I did read the highlighted sentence, though. And I must ask: have you never learnt that supporting someone is not "throwing in their faces" their sexual option?

The level of fail of this thread is pathetic. One will never understand if she/he didn't experience the situation. They can, however, accept it and move on with their lives... Because a game character won't change your lives... It won't make you have nightmares... It won't make "the gheys" think that you are one of the crew... They are simply there. It's up to you to activate their happy side or not.

I'm annoyed with the attitudes of people in this thread, NOT with homosexuality, nor with homosexuality in ME.

'ME' being Mass Effect.

Ugh...

Bioware already stated somewhere that romances will be initialized by you. As for homosexuality, grow some balls, will ya? It's goddamn video game and no one forces you to partake in OPTIONAL content. It's there. So ****ing what?

That's just it. It's fine if it is optional. I have to choose if I want to see it or not, not the game. It is NOT fine if Garrus, a character I have loved from the start, suddenly wants to "love me back".

What is it with you and Garrus coming onto you? The way I see it, if YOU, the player, show romantic interest, then character of your affection will respond in turn. That doesn't mean your bromance with Garrus will be RUINED FOREVER, even IF he's bi. Nevermind DA2. There is an entirely different team behind ME.

I love my new signature. I don't have to waste time making new responses to the same idiotic arguments.

The "no bi romances" people are the selfish ones, who want the LIs to only conform to their tastes and not anyone else's.

In all seriousness though, (this post is in response to the highly defensive s/s supporters), why do you act like lesbians and homosexuals have never been included in a game before?

Let me say this as well, I don't oppose s/s romance in general, I oppose making current LIs (either all, some, or even one) bi.

I never said this. Don't put words in my mouth. I'm merely saying that the best way to handle the situation in ME3 is to have the content be accessible ONLY IF THE PLAYER ACCESSES IT. It's the only compromise that would make heterosexual fans and homosexual fans happy. This is a matter of characters. I'd be indifferent to content regarding James Vega coming onto ManShep, as that would mean his character being gay is an established part of his personality. However, if Bioware want to make Kaidan or Garrus gay, I don't ever, EVER want to see that content unless I decide to pursue it.

Why else wouldn't you?

You have no problem seeing heterosexual content happening without the player (you) initiating it.

So if you don't want homosexual content happening without the player (you) initiating it then you must find it what then? Displeasing? Gross?

Just don't act like if the world is getting to its end because of an option. Turning a character in bisexual/homosexual won't make him/she weak... It'll make them stronger to deal with all the crap.

Romances are a relatively minor aspect of the game.

Believe it or not, there are other parts of the game that you could also be concerned with.

I think the take away from this thread is the number of "straight" people who find the gay option in these games. And how easily they find it.

How do you know they're (all, some or one) not already bi? No, revealing attraction to one gender does not rule out attraction to other gender. Simple. It's just logic. So unless these characters told you they're straight, you, nor I for that matter can know for certain they're not bisexual.

I am way too tired of this to actively have a discussion, and I've got games I'd rather be playing, but I will say this:

If you don't pick flirty options, you won't come on to your squad mates, which means you won't have to worry about Garrus "loving you back." Just make it clear you're only interested in being a bro. Problem solved. Sexuality will not transform a character's personality. Garrus will not suddenly turn into a raging homosexual in pink combat armor with a feather boa. He will be Garrus. Our beloved bad-ass turian one-liner.

People discover themselves over time. Anders could have changed over time, thus his sudden attraction to Hawke, especially if you're male. Who's to say that your Mass Effect pals haven't developed a case of hero worship? Shepard's "a bloody icon." Hero worship could have turned into attraction. Maybe it's a heat-of-the-moment type thing, and for instance Garrus isn't normally attracted to males, ever, at all (I'm gonna use Garrus because like someone said, everyone seems to worry about Garrus). But Shepard comes along and he's all awesome, and Garrus starts to like Shepard a little. He isn't suddenly into all dudes everywhere. He's into Shepard. Just Shepard. And that's only if you want him to be, because you have to initiate the romance.

Now excuse me, my totally awesome lesbian Shepard has a galaxy to save and copious amounts of alien lesbian sex to have.
