World of Warcraft and a massive time commitment? LOL, that doesn't even describe it. I can't get exact numbers (there was a /played command that would tell you the exact number) due to having quit a long time ago, but I played that game basically every day for several hours a day over a few years. So yeah, 100+ hours? Lmao, try at least 150 DAYS... and most likely much more on my main character, because I honestly don't remember but I have a feeling it was more than 150. Although I did do a ton of AFK-ing in major cities, I did a TON of raiding, instance groups, talking on Ventrilo, and mindlessly running around major cities out of boredom.
That doesn't even count my various alts that I'd play for a few weeks then get bored of.
Sickening, I know. xD
I'm having trouble understanding this...
you're playing the same character for that many hours? How does that work? They have quest content that lasts 3000+ hours?
or is it mostly fighting other people?
Remember, World of Warcraft is an MMO, which means endless amounts of enemies (mobs with AI) to kill. Some of the time was spent questing my way up to the level cap, and then a lot of it was spent teaming up with players around the country (and other countries, actually) to take down enemies that weren't possible to kill alone. Some of that was done in a small group of 5 players, and some of it was spent with 10 or 25 players in a raid (more complex and difficult instanced dungeons). Instanced content can be completed again and again (with a daily or weekly limit), and seeing as how I was a healer, I was very often needed to keep the other players alive as they tanked or attacked the enemies and bosses.
WoW does have PvP, but not much of my time was spent killing other players. I'm not very competitive, or even aggressive, for that matter--I mostly left players of the opposite faction alone. I wasn't even on a PvP server until the very end of my WoW career.

Contra (NES) - I'm guessing here, but that game rocked and turned us all into zombies as kids.
Castlevania (NES)
Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest (NES) - Some parts of that game were so random, there were alot of wasted hours.
Rampage (NES) - It takes forever to beat and the ending sucked sooo hard.
Ikari Warriors (NES) - I might of played it 100 hours with friends, I just remember the Nintendo overheating and the game freezing.
Phantasy Star 2 (Genesis) - A great JRPG, it got me addicted to them for awhile.
Golden Axe 1,2 & 3(Genesis) - Great co-op action with friends.
Shining Force 1 & 2 (Genesis)
Guardian Heros (Saturn) - One of the best action co-op games I've played.
Final Fantasy Tactics (PS1)
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS1)
Diablo 1 (PC)
Starcraft (PC)
Descent Freespace 1 & 2 (PC)
Baldur's Gate 1, 2 & Expansions (PC)
Icewind Dale 1 & Expansion (PC)
NWN 1 & Expansions (PC)
World of Warcraft (PC) - I'm ashamed to admit this!
The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind (PC)
Knights of the Old Republic (PC)
Fallout 3 (PC)
Dragon Age: Origins (PC)
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim (PC) - Unless it just brings on the suck completely, I can see myself playing this for at least 100 hours.
It's about a Korean Guy who settles into Los Santos to help create a formula for a new nuclear that causes less spread on impact, but it ends up being too powerful on direct impact, and it creates a 50 mile deep crater out in the desert near san andreas.
