That would be like the Warden siding with the Archdemon.

Why are so many people such villian worshippers?

Why are so many people thinking our actions in a video game reflect who we are in real life?

Honestly I'm not against this idea Don't make it an obvious choice like a simple dialog option but a series of choices you make in the game screw you up like you roleplay as a shepard who isn't the brightest bulb in the box and so far you've just been getting lucky.
Enough wrong choices and *BAM your indoctronated and your still playing shepard but everything your doing is the oposite from before.

That´s not a conscious choice to join the Reapers, just finding out you´ve been indoctrinated. Also, for it to work properly, you should discover it same time as Shepard.

That would just make everything you did in ME1 and 2 useless...

By that definition, any change of opinion regardless of new discoveries makes all prior actions on that path meaningless. Which is kind of silly, because we choose our actions based on what we know now, not simply what we did in the past damn all relevations.

Why don't they just have the option to shoot yourself in the head at the beginning of ME3 once the Reapers arrive? Or have Shepard raze a couple of batarian colonies with the Normandy?

Because no.

Why the heck would Shep *want* to side with the Reapers? You know, the guys out to wipe out galactic life again? That just sounds stupid, so NO.

You know...we practically know almost nothing about the Reapers and their motivation right?

Yeah, I don't think Shepherd cares why the Reapers cull all advanced life in the galaxy on a regular basis; it's a less pressing concern than the fact that they actually cull all advanced life in the galaxy on a regular basis.

Shepherd doesn't care if they have substance abuse problems, or if the boss is on their backs and making their lives hell, or if their mother never really loved them; you just don't pull that kind of crap in his place of business and expect to be allowed to stay on the premises.

[Reaperized-voice] I am the Shepard of your destruction. [/Reaperized-voice]

I'm not opposed to the possibility of that ending being an option but it'd have to be achieved through clear decisions with multiple chances of changing course. Heck, Reaper-Shep taking on the other Reapers to save the galaxy, acting as an eternal sentinal drifting through space.

*shrug*

Doubt it will happen but I don't see why people are getting upset over something that would be optional.

No, we already saw what siding with the reapers did with Saren. He was indoctrinated slowly without him realizing it. The reapers aren't going to let Shepard side with them unless he is also indoctrinated.

I want to take over Omega WITH Aria! Make her a LI!!! =)

As for the OP's idea, it is a bad idea and would just ruin the game.

It would mean the trilogy has gone a full circle and Shepard is now Saren 2.0. Not sure that's the greatest idea.

I agree with Fiery. To side with the Reapers and become like Saren... No! No way!

Why would I like to become the new Saren? A glorified husk, losing more and more of himself everyday, with the only possible end either death becasue the Reapers dont need you anymore or to become a servant like the husks or collectors afterwards? No thanks.

I imagine an anthill ...many of us are trying to get rid of those when on our precious gardens we have been cultivating...what gives us the right to kill those ants or on the other hand what gives them the right to destroy what we've been taking care of for that long time...many people here are too shortsighted to see the consequences in wider range...

I say if the story/consequences and their intentions are explained on a level in which it will possible to even think of siding with them...then I am all for the option...

MysticMage44: The only way it would work is if some how the reapers logic could be twisted enough in order to be looked at in some sort of positive good for everyone in the end way.

This. Exactly this.

This is why I love what BW made the reapers into. Joining the reapers is no viable choice, it means becoming a husk/slave for a while and then you die. There is no more to it.

Who is to say that the Reapers are evil? Maybe harvesting all life in the galaxy is their *renegade* means to an end, which will in-turn enable the galaxy to produce more life and more species in the next 50 000 years?

What if you two choices at the end are, fight the Reapers and win, but doom the galaxy to extinction within the next 100 years, or surrender to the Reapers, become assimilated and allow the galaxy to continue existing.

Now wouldn't THAT be a butt-ache of a choice.

I'm against this idea it's like your DA character joining the dark spawn at the arch demon fight, or Frodo joining Sauron, it makes no sense! You only want to join them because you want to join them they are will in the end destroy shep through tech upgrades and he will be a mindless puppet just like the collector generals were maybe some people think this is utopia?

I do in 3 expect shep to be hacked by the reapers and forced to do things against galactic civilization but I also expect Tali, Legion, and EDI to somehow come up with a way to hack him back from and possibly put into him an algorithm to help prevent future hack attempts.

Here is what it comes down to...Regardless of what motivations the Reapers have, they spell the absolute extinction of every organic race. There is no possible motivation of theirs that would make utter extinction acceptable to organic races.

"Maybe they are really good guys fighting off the super duper bad reapers that are coming!"

Uh huh...they still are going to annihilate all living life in the galaxy, thats all that organic races should care about.

I vote no.

It makes absolutely no sense for Shepard to willingly side with the Reapers and allow them to destroy galactic civilization and exterminate his own species, and then to either discard him like a tool they no longer need, or turn him into goo when they are done. Knowing what he knows, why would he ever make that decision? You can't roleplay stupidity of that magnitude.

The only way Shepard would ever side with the Reapers was if he fell victim to indoctrination. But he'd never do so willingly.
