Count how many characters we have.. Not one of them are as important as Garrus or Tali. We have over a dozen fleshed out characters, well written backgrounds, unique personalities (except Jacob) and great designs. Yet, we are constantly recyclying the same dynamic duo; Garrus and Tali. Bucket face and Reptile reject.

All three games have had them. ALL OF THEM. It's not like these characters are even important to the plot. Like Liara, or something. They just get two spots, because!!!

What's the point of even making new characters? Just stop creating new characters, it obviously does not matter. Tali and garrus are enough to carry the team. The way these characters are treated it's like they single handidly make the game. No other thing comes close to Garrus and Tali. gold falls out of their **** asses.

you guys want a reason for my anger, this is your reason; not fair.

Garrus and Tali aren't that special!!!!

While Tali and Garrus are cool, they are not the most important characters in ME. What about Liara? Miranda? I daresay these characters have had a greater role in the series so far.

Exactly. Why, oh why, pray tell, are Tali and Fin' Garrus on all three of our games. I don't even get what Garrus.. does...?

Funny, I never use either of them.

As for why they're always around? Fan-service.

They're easy to throw in because they've got no attachments. Garrus just wants to fly around righting wrongs for great justice, and Tali while loyal to her race, doesn't seem to really enjoy Flotilla life.

Wrex has leadership responsiblities, which stops him from really joining Shepard much (which is a surprise, because he was pretty much the most popular companion in ME1, yet Bioware made it so he pretty much can't ever rejoin the squad.) and Ashley/Kaidan are heavily Alliance centric, and wouldn't get involved in the Freelancing of ME2.

And the rest of the ME2 crew were basically guns for hire.

Should fan-service have such a large control of our game. do you not worry about how Me3 will turn out?

These two statements contradict each other. I'm not really quite sure what you are getting at. They don't get any special treatment from the writers other than being available. Other characters get more important plot material. Are you just complaining about them being in the squad?

I'm afraid you are going to have to live with it. Tali and Garrus are there because the fans like them. There is nothing wrong with that. I'm a bit baffled as to why they were so well liked in ME1 as I thought both were kind of boring. They did win me over in ME2 though, the writing for them was a significant step up. Garrus's Shadow broker dossier was legendary...

22:10: S:Just about to head to bed. Late my time. Where are you?
22:10: G:Come on, you know I can't tell you that. Not a secure channel.
22:12: S:Oh please, Garrus. You don't have to be all secretive. Illium?
22:12: G:Give it up, Sol.
22:13: S:You're one to talk. Still playing at Spectre, even after all these years.
22:16: G:How's Mom?
22:16: S:Last round of treatments didn't go so well.
22:16: G:Damn it.
22:17: S:We may try an offworld center. Some salarian doctors have something that might work.
22:17: S:It's not covered, though.
22:18: G:Of course not.
22:19: G:I can pay for the treatments.
22:19: S:That's a nice thought. I could really use you here, though.
22:20: G:I can't. How much for the first round?
22:20: S:Forget it.
22:21: G:I can pay.
22:24: S:Sure you can. You lose your C-Sec job, and what about that contract job you were doing up until recently?
22:24: G:Yeah, it ended badly.
22:25: S:So don't give me more garbage about how you're going to help.
22:25: S:You obviously can't help or won't bother.
22:25: S:Damn it, you haven't even bothered to sync up for video chat since you lost that damn job.
22:26: S:If you're so ashamed to look me in the eye, then why are we even talking?
22:26: S:Go have your fun doing merc work or screwing around or whatever. Just don't act like you care.
22:30: G:You're right, sol. I'm so sorry.
22:32: S:No, I'm sorry. Things are rough with Mom. The salarians are expensive as hell.
22:32: G:I wish I could help.

Mr. Vakarian,
On behalf of the Helos Medical Institute, I would like to thank you for your efforts. It has been understandably difficult to get Collector tissue, given the sensitive situation on the human colonies, so the samples you sent to us have been extremely helpful. Please also offer my sincere thanks to Dr.Solus--I understand he made some calls to the Special Tasks Group, and as a result, our corporate clearance was upgraded.
Your concern about the Corpalis Syndrome is well-founded. While rare, it's an ugly disease. The neurological degeneration is both difficult to witness and nearly impossible to halt. We are in fact working on some test trials for a new treatment, and I believe that with our new STG clearance, we can get all fees for the trial members waived as a governmental cooperation effort with the Turian Hierarchy.
Thank you again for your assistance. Donations like these help keep us running. Per your request, we will keep your donations strictly anonymous.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jelith Kieron

Bull****. Garrus and Tali have plenty of other "attachments". They were just written out to shove them back into my game. Where I didn't even want them to begin with!

Hell, Garrus took a rocket to the face, next minute hes back in the game? yeah, right "no attachments like bodily harm".

Fan-service has its place in every series.  It's not always a bad thing.

As for T + G, I really don't care.

Worst case scenario is that they're forced into my party against my will and I never use them.

Bro, your calling Kadian, Jacob, Grunt, and Zaheed, fleshed out?
The last time I had that much 2D going on in a game I was playing Paper Mario.

he is a lizard cop...what is not to get?

They were there when you unveiled Saren...they helped u become a spectre. They, like Ashley/Kaidan, Liara and Wrex, have seen everything that Shepard has seen. Yet it is very likely that the others would have normal lives. Wrex said in ME1 that he would try to unite the clans. Kaiden/Ashley is in the Alliance and thus might not be available as a squadmate in ME2. Liara is the oddball out of the cameo squadmates. But thanks to the comic books she had to have that role in the second game.

I understand why the Developers left us these two characters...mainly because having an entire new set of squadmates would have seemed weird after our relationship with the first batch. Though the execution of the cameos left something to desire (Virmire Survivor confrontation), the availability of the old squad makes sense.

Paper Mario has more personality than all of those characters.

First quote was sarcasm. Read the CONCLUDING statment. i find Tali and Garrus quite boring, generic and their presence in my squad serves as a Placeholder.

Obviously they do get special treatment if they were selected out of a dozen characters to be in ALL THREE GAMES. even though they have NO SIGNIFICANCE TO THE PLOT. AFFECT THE PLOT VERY LITTLE. and their characters are yawn-er-ific. I much rather slap.. Miranda or.. Thane (ugh) but Garrus and Tali? no mass.

You know what, I don't care about all that as long as they all get = screen time... I don't really care about Garrus that much... and I think Tali is okay... Just be fair to the fans who like other characters and don't make a certain squaddie steal the show... i'm fine with that...

Once again contradicting statements. Are you being sarcastic again? I can't tell. If they were getting special treatment they would have a greater impact on the plot than other characters.

Hey here's an idea Zeel!
Bioware can just take out all those characters you don't like. problem solved.
(I would love Miranda and Jack to be gone entirely)

Not in any real way.  I don't like them, but their presence in my overall party doesn't affect me because I can leave them behind.

And they each force their way into the party in one game.  Tali can be left unrecruited in ME2 and Garrus can be left on the Citadel in ME1.

Ideally they'll give us those options again, but, if not, I'll cope.

All the other ME2 characters could not be in ME1 because they hadn't been written. All the other ME1 characters look like they will have more importance to the plot than G and possibly T.

are you blind and deaf? The special treatment is them being placed in the game three times. key word, special. they're the only duo to be placed in your squad for all three games.

Their ability to affect the plot is secondary.

It's something like reading your posts.  Tends to be painful boring but sometimes I'm a masochist.
Regardless I've paid the same ammount to see some content that is optional.  I ignore it whenever I damn well please too, its the great thing about not being a litte crybaby you make your own choice.
