And yet they have a permanent spot on our team come me3.
Lovely. very expendable (SARCASM)

Not if you let them die in me2

Then I miss out on content. I'm getting punished for not linking Garrus/Tali.

Lose/lose situation.

If you don't like them I fail to understand why you would care about their me3 content.

There is also the possibility of keeping them in one playthrough and killing them in another, then you get the best of both worlds.

Are you insane? even though I HATED TALI. I loved the fortilla level. with the geths, the trial, her dead pa. fun times.

No. I don't meta-game.

Well then as my father has said, you'll just have to lump it.

Edit: to me in the past, not to you in the forum, that would be weird, but the saying holds true never the less.

They've been doing some back peddling on 'permanent'.

And as much as I like Garrus, killing him isn't likely to be losing you any major content. He NEVER has a plot specific role, as it's always tied to Shepard. You can take him or leave him.

Tali may have some more ramifications, but if you're likely to side with the geth anyways...

.@shadowdragon20 We've confirmed James, Liara, Ash/Kaidan, Garrus, and Tali as squad members / main chars in #ME3. More to reveal though.

Thanks for clearing that up. It does look a bit ME1ish IMO. It would be a pity if most of the ME2 characters were reduced to cameos, especially since the character writing in ME2 tended to be quite a bit stronger.

Has it actually been confirmed they are permanent squadmates in ME3? I suspect it is highly likely for the popularity reasons but was not aware of confirmation.

I don't think anyone has been confirmed as "permanent" squadmembers, but garrus and tali have been confirmed as possible squadmembers

I'd expect at least two more of the ME2 LI's to be announced(probably Miranda and Jack or Thane.)

I suspect non-LI's will be temporary squaddies.

How about this.

Ah, thank you, Zeel. You're currently the most amusing troll on the BSN, and we love having you here.

It's a shame, your successor will probably be laughed at, living in your imposing, smelly shadow.

They've been forced into your squad, every game. This doesn't bother you?

Not in any real way.  I don't like them, but their presence in my overall party doesn't affect me because I can leave them behind.

And they each force their way into the party in one game.  Tali can be left unrecruited in ME2 and Garrus can be left on the Citadel in ME1.

Ideally they'll give us those options again, but, if not, I'll cope.

If you will just "cope" with every thing they sling at you. Then you're opinion on this is irrelevant.
I much rather have ANYONE except Garrus and Tali. I cannot fathom Bioware's need to give them so much attention.

Its just your opinion. You can not like any charachters you want, that doesn't mean they are bad charachters.
I feel the same way about Mirianda,  I feel she shouldn't have had such a big role in the game (or one at all for that matter), but it doesn't matter.

Tali and Garrus are popular, the latter being a poster charachter for ME1. lots of people like them even if you don't

And saying that they aren't as interisting or complex as charachters like Liara or Wrex, or especially Grunt is just ridiculus.

I was trying to take this thread seriously for a minute, then I realized king zeel made it. I should have known right away with all of the swears and exclamation marks. Could you perhaps try to react more calm and reasonably to those who post in your thread? You must know that Tali and Garrus are the favorite characters of many Mass Effect fans. People are going to disagree with you.

Look, Bioware has to pick a few characters to focus on. Garrus doesn't really have much else important to do, and a lot of people like Tali. It makes sense that they would stick with Shepard. Liara and the VS are the only ones we know of that immediately join Shepard aboard the Normandy. I get the impression that Garrus and Tali will have to be recruited since they may not have even survived the suicide mission. If you don't like them, don't spend the time to do their loyalty missions, and they probably won't be eager to rejoin you. Oh and Tali, by the way, was not forced on you in ME2. You had to recruit her on Haestrom.

All three games have had them. ALL OF THEM. It's not like these characters are even important to the plot. Like Liara, or something. They just get two spots, because!!!

Exept Mordin, Miranda and Jacob ( trololo ). No one is important to the plot of ME2.

kthxbye

Hey their the token Turian and Quarian, but to be honest they do have a plot role as Shepards squad. They both joined him in ME2 while working for a group they both hated, and it gives kinda a sense of stability to the other insane galaxy of ME.

Funny, I never use either of them.

As for why they're always around? Fan-service.

Should fan-service have such a large control of our game. do you not worry about how Me3 will turn out?

It makes logical sense that the most popular characters get the most attention, both from a story telling perspective and a marketing perspective. Just because you have some weird social antagonism where you despise anything that is popular in some useless effort to try to come off as more unique doesn't mean that Bioware should focus on less renowned characters. At the end of the day, you are one guy whose opinion holds exactly as much weight as any other, but your opinion is a drop in a bucket trying to compete with a tsunami.

In short, deal with it, or don't play the game. Nobody really cares what you do either way.
