I agree with Saphra Deden - so, when I kill a man and take his woman as my mate... I will kill his children because his genetics were clearly too weak compared to mine. Then - I will breed the woman and enforce my genetic superiority.

Yep, so if I have 1 arm, the mother nature wanted that I always have a meaningless life with a rutinary boring no profitable work because i lack the abilities.

There is not such thing like greed is human nature, the human nature is the will to learn, (again). By your "fact" a child is a greedy mother****er, the so called innocense of a child is the human nature, thats why the childrens love their teachers, because they teach them, they learn and become happy.

Actually, children are selfish. In fact, they are the most selfish animal in existence. They want your constant undivided attention and insist on having it. Yes, they are your responsibility however that does not change the reality. Innocence is not an excuse for ignorance, which children are. Such is basic nature. What parents do is teach them to appreciate what they have and to be a better person whilst they grow. This is how and why our motivations change when we reach the various stages of life, and eventual adulthood. We are still selfish, just in a different capacity. We can relate to others.

With regards to a resource based economy. I presume you mean trading goods and etc? If so, this is essentially a primitive variation of currency. This way we have predetermined value in lieu of people determining their own.

you're determined to find some flaw aren't you. No, the elderly are not meant to be unproductive, in fact they are supposed to be the incentive. Everyone's dream is to make enough that they can retire and do what they want, emptying their years of accumulated savings back into the economy. also, thet's why health research is so profitable. extending someone's healthy life expectancy is excellent for both business and PR.

I admire your youth - I hope what you aspire to comes true for you, the alternative is not pretty in your "best of all possible worlds".

it has for every member of my family. great grandparents retired by forties, grandad retired by forties, dad should be retired by 50 if the government doensn't make a total mess of the healthcare system before he's ready. yeah, it's attainable.

edit

Have you taked a peek to the link I posted? there is the explanation to what a resource based economy is (I think is in "INTRODUCTION", "ASKED QUESTIONS" or something like that :P), and yes innocence is ignorancy, you missed my point again, I was saying that the children are "pure" in the case the fathers really care about them xD, they remain pure until they are forced to swallow the world around, is the same that happenned to us, we were something in a moment and bang we are forced to BE other thing. That is how we reach our "stages of life". If the surrounding world is ****ed up, well, then is when "us" became "them".

And a child is not selfish, a child is whimsical in a good way and in a very ignorant way, they want your attention because they need it, but they lack the knowledge of the stress embedded into the fathers by the exterior.

:alien: (?

:P yeah bad joke, I always wake up with good humor xD

Greed is a useful trait for an organism to survive.

XD that is not greed, remember that greed, is the excesive desire to obtain material things, is almost a mental disease.

It should be "Will, is a useful trait for an organism to survive"
In order to survive you NEED something....WANTING something, is different.

We are conditioned to consume , people think "I want a Ferrari", instead they should think "Do I need a Ferrari?"

seems to reason that through 100 + years of first contact war, mixing with other races (in the alliance) and settling of new colonies, that fat folks generally are going to genetically be cut out...it's also been mentioned in the 'ascension' novel that gene therapy is very common...
