Throwing Grant in is a much safer (and cheaper) way of getting the chicks to fly out of the club.

You're not. Players think so, BioWare thinks so (and thought so since ME1 developement) and finally, Kaidan thinks so too.

And It's a shame that it didn't make it into the game really. Which IMHO renders it non "canon" (god I hate that word).

Well you have to remember that forums really really are a minority of players and not everyone goes scouring for background information, rumours hearsay, concept art and so forth.

A fanish but casual player that bought me1 and me2 will kinda think wtf. in me3. Atleast if "it" is not handled elegantly.

Though on a personal note I did get the bi vibe from Kaidan in ME1 without reading up on anything else.

i meant, its better the way they made it in DAO: there were 2 characters that were bi, 2 that were straight. if you wanted to be with morrigan you had to make a male character/if you wanted to be with alistair you had to make a female character. if you wanted a straight/ bi relationship you could be with leliana/zevran, and ofc there were characters you couldnt romance at all.  if you make everyone bi like in DA2 somehow i dont feel compelled to make another character. ill just stick to my first female character i made and just try out relationships with everyone right away.. which to me is not really interesting because i didnt buy the game to rush trhough it and discover all the relationshop delights right away.

im not against bi characters.. im just saying not all should be bi.

Eh, I don’t particularly agree particularly in Dragon Age. I might scratch my head a bit if all 9 romance options swung both ways, that’s boarderline absurd. On the other hand with only four potential characters I can just shrug it off and say coincidence.

You could pretty much romance everyone in DA1 anyway with one locked off based on your gender/sex. Truthfully, the amount of drama it caused was hilarious and made it all the more amusing. While the problem with DA2 was for the most part it seemed none of the characters minded that you were flirting with EVERYONE. I truthfully think the problems with the romance options had nothing to do with every one being bi and more to do with how it was implemented.

And I think that there is the biggest problem with most people, not that they don't want gay or bi Li's or that they are "uncomfortable" with one or two past lis becoming bi (they seem to be more concerned with continuity and whether it works with that character rather than "ew my friend is bi now")but the obvious clusterfudge and as you said, borderline absurdity that you have 9+ Lis available to you in one play through (sounds like a love cruise rather than a mission  ). Forget love triangles, now we got love octagons going on LOL. So that makes 18 + scripts if we're talking both sexes of shepards, and you know they'll make the dialogues vague and non gender specific so that it wouldn't take up too many resources (it is a subplot after all) if you look at the bigger picture you can see there’s a legitimate problem there.

And with 4 Lis in DA2 yes that wasn't too much of a stretch because not only were they new characters but that's a small amount of people so it didn't feel "odd" that they were into both genders....but make that 9 maybe 12 maybe 14 people...seriously no one is gay or straight in that group?

Why worry? If he becomes a Male romance nothing would change. In fact, and I am repeating myself here, Garrus is the most likely to be a BI option to begin with, and in fact it would be the most lore friendly for him to be BI with a male shep.

Hell the only reason Turians know that femshep is female is because they know females have dem funny bumps. Without the bumps, Turians would have trouble telling what gender Humans are without closer inspection. 

Now if Garrus was a male romance option in ME2... Nothing would change. In fact if you don't romance garrus he would clam up and get stuck in calibration hell just like normal. He never flirted with femshep, he acts the same with femshep as he does with male shep all the way up to the point that femshep starts the romance.

Honestly I get confused why people worry so much about it. Unless Bioware changes how they do romances, it would be like they were never a romance option as long as you didn't choose the flirt option. (The vagueness of flirting is another problem and topic entirely.)

But him going outside his species is not a special reason, thane and tali ALSO do this. So by that logic Tali and Thane should also shrug at the other human sex too. And you are also making an assumption that there are no other biological similarities between turians and humans just because on the surface garrus looks the most "alien". For all you know drell are like male seahorses  The fact is we don't know what any of the aliens got under there, so for people saying turians "they couldn't tell" how do you know that? If garrus is made bi, there needs to be better reason than he "went outside his species" because Thane and tali did the same and secondly if you as a human can distinguish ,say,male and female quarians why is it such a stretch that they can do the same?
