I would like a LM for Joker.

He could be in a big huge mech suit with EDI in there with him, to help protect his brittlte bones.

What do you think?

I think Sten needs to get involved in this thread.

Problem: EDI, like all AIs, can't leave her blue box, which is located in the Normandy's computer core.

Yes, this padded mech should be modeled after a badass, after all...

Why?

I always assumed something as advanced as EDI had many copies. I figure she'd backed up her program in many places, and maybe even a few hard copies in case of some sort of affective EMP attack.

There are not really any hard rules for AI's since they are sort of illegal anyway? So there is no reason that she'd have any rules to only exist in this one core area.

Then there's the Geth programs that are on platforms being sent back to hubs & collectives when the platforms are destroyed...

EDI & Joker's Geth/Mech hybrid for ME3!

I would hope that EDI remains a single individual.  I know for many people they see AI as nothing more than a computer program...  but, really it's not that quite clear cut in Sci-Fi.  I think that by mass producing her they would destroy some of her seldom.

Oh I am an EDI fan, but I don't see your point about it being a single individual. EDI will be the same thing even if her core gets a giant magnet waved over it, and she has to to a recovering disk from Shep's Ipod. I see no reason that EDI can't be a character with personality, and still have several back ups in place:)

I think remote control of the Mech and speaking directly to Joker while he's in it is enough. I agree that EDI is a single entity; Besides, have you heard her "Really, Commander?" when you try to probe Uranus? It's so human it's precious.

These are Rommie's mechs from Andromeda... wouldn't be a bad idea, now that I think of it. It would be pretty badass to have EDI follow you around in a YMIR or something.

Here's why. Specifically, read the part about how transferring into a new blue box will create a new personality. It's not a man-made rule that AIs cannot transmit themselves into a different computer, more like a physical limitation. Think of it like cloning yourself. Even if you somehow artificially age that clone to be the same age as you are right now, the clone is still not "you."

I think it would be fun to have control over Joker (like in Mass Effect 2) in a mech suit for a specific scenario/mission in Mass Effect 3 regardless if it's possible for EDI to be present or not. :)

That is such a badass idea. I would delay the game for this. You're the first poster in these forums in a long time that's awesome.

Why don't they just make the Normandy into a transformer? Now that's a big ass mech suit for ya and Joker never has to leave his seat.

Pre-ME2? Sure.

Now pretty much anything rolls, just look at the whole Lazarus plot.

Hmm
ME3: the you failed badly with Shepard in Mass Effect 2 and now you have to do things right with Joker: Spinn Off!

I would rather see EDI having a face instead of a ball as visual appearance. I mean, this is her voice:

Interesting idea.

It would make sense that Joker would have some kind of exoskeleton to help with movement issues.

But I never thinked that EDI can physically move, because I allways assumed the EDI is more than just program. Meaning EDI requires physical construction of neural network to function. EDI is "Quantum Blue Box type AI". How ever, that doesn't mean EDI can't still be connected to many things with data communication channel, like she does all the time in Normandy.
