Interesting idea.

It would make sense that Joker would have some kind of exoskeleton to help with movement issues.

But I never thinked that EDI can physically move, because I allways assumed the EDI is more than just program. Meaning EDI requires physical construction of neural network to function. EDI is "Quantum Blue Box type AI". How ever, that doesn't mean EDI can't still be connected to many things with data communication channel, like she does all the time in Normandy.

Yeah it would be like a remote control suit with a communications channel built in. That way she could control and speak through it from the Normandy.

You could probably snazz up the tech-speak with mention of something like high bandwidth quantum entanglement channel blah blah blah (yes, I understand what quantum entanglement is in the real world and how "high bandwidth QE channel" doesn't make sense, no need to get all MIT on me) that allows EDI to control a drone at a distance. After all, she's partly based on Reaper technology and that's exactly what Harbinger did with the Collectors.

This actually brings up a beef I had with the exploitation of a popular character (that being Joker) in ME2. At the end you have the whole crew on board except you and your two squadmates the Normandy is hovering waiting to take you away and who is at the door heroically shooting with an assault rifle? Joker! Who the hell is flying this thing!?

EDI. G'durrrrr?

There's a whole conversation about how she could fly the Normandy flawlessly, but against other AIs, they'll expect her to fly flawlessly; Joker's human error is what messes them up, and that's why there's still a pilot, instead of just EDI flying it.

I would like a LM for Joker.

He could be in a big huge mech suit with EDI in there with him, to help protect his brittlte bones.

What do you think?

I need to be able to buy him a bottle of brandy afterwards.  I think Jeff would tell better stories.

Yeah well of course Durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

since joker the whole game has had his rump firmnly planted in the chair.
since the other 30 people with fighting skills are back on board
since the beloved normandy is going to have to escape fast or get blown to smithereens.

It makes total sense to have the pilot with vrolics syndrome haul out an assault rifle and start blasting away.  Perfect logic!

Problem: EDI, like all AIs, can't leave her blue box, which is located in the Normandy's computer core.

Why?

I always assumed something as advanced as EDI had many copies. I figure she'd backed up her program in many places, and maybe even a few hard copies in case of some sort of affective EMP attack.

There are not really any hard rules for AI's since they are sort of illegal anyway? So there is no reason that she'd have any rules to only exist in this one core area.

I would hope that EDI remains a single individual.  I know for many people they see AI as nothing more than a computer program...  but, really it's not that quite clear cut in Sci-Fi.  I think that by mass producing her they would destroy some of her seldom.

Oh I am an EDI fan, but I don't see your point about it being a single individual. EDI will be the same thing even if her core gets a giant magnet waved over it, and she has to to a recovering disk from Shep's Ipod. I see no reason that EDI can't be a character with personality, and still have several back ups in place:)

"There are many copies." Uh, that didn't went too well...

Seriously though, don't know about mech suit idea, but I have been thinkinf if one way to upgrade galactic races battle ships would be installing copy of EDI in them.

He had butthurt, from the chair and sense of inferiority. Now he doesn't.

Win!

I would rather see EDI having a face instead of a ball as visual appearance. I mean, this is her voice:
