I looked through the forums and the almighty Google for a while now and I have not seen anything about this. I do not know if there is an old thread for this or if it has been pointed out but I started a new game recently and something caught my attention.

When I was being briefed before Freedom's Progress I noticed that the Cerberus people and the codex entry said the colony was attacked right after new GARDIAN lasers and other defenses had been installed. It has been awhile, but isn't this the same thing that happened at Horizon? New GARDIAN lasers get installed and then the Collector's show up.

Maybe I am reading into this too much and it is just a coincindence. However, I still think it is strange that the Alliance colony Freedom's Progress (says it is Alliance in the codex) is taken as soon as the new defenses are installed. Then Horizon gets help from the Alliance to install the same defenses and is attacked. Does anyone know if Ferris Fields or New Canton received the same "defensive aid" from the Alliance?

I don't known about F.P colony installation but on Horizon every signs pointed at fact that thier Gardians were purposefuly sabotaged and very possible by Cerberus mole because delusive man wanted to be 100 % sure that Collectors WILL attack Horizon (alongside with deliberate leaks to lure on Horizon Ash/Kaidan raising by this even higher odd for such attack).

IF those turrets would work during initial cruiser approach they would turn her hull in swiss cheese because kinetic barriers wouldn't stop Gardians energy bullets and that's primary reason why on the first sign that turrets start to working again (i think turrets increased energy build up was detected by Collector ship sensors and signal them to break operation) Cruiser fired up engines and flee instead of drop on Shepard and her/his team army of collectors.

Actually, I would guess it is more probable an indoctrinated sleeper agent sabotaged the turrets (if sabotage is what happened) than Cerberus. The Cerberus info leak was only to test a theory that the Collectors would be interested in people connected to Shephard and so give them a means by which to predict the attack.

The GARDIAN defense turrets would not have stopped a Collector ship from approaching, or really any dedicated attack force. Their only purpose is to discourage raiders and slavers by making the colony more trouble than it is worth. Only reason they were able to drive off the Collector ship is because the ground teams were getting decimated by Shephard and company while being stuck on the ground as their hull was getting ripped apart.

The timing is likely done in order to get colonies to believe there is a link between the disappearances and upgrading defenses, thus discouraging colonies from upgrading and making them that much easier to grab.

Hey, look, Asheer_Khan is spouting paranoid crazy again.

No, nothing in the game suggests that Cerberus sabotaged the guardians as opposed to, say, the Collectors. In fact, the implications in the game is that Cerberus is responsible for the 'gift' of the Guardians in the first place, as the pretext and means to have the Virmire Survivor be on the planet.

I am just saying something is fishy. Who knows, maybe Mass Effect 3 will start with Earth installing new GARDIAN lasers, then the Reapers show up five minutes later.....

If you could see, we'd probably get along much better.

If you could insult, you might actually hurt someone's feelings.
