Carriers with Space fighters carrying Javelins.

Humans were the only ones to come up with this idea according to the codex, and I can imagine a swarm of bombers carrying upgraded javelins or maybe even thanix cannons (if the Turians can get the weapon mounts small enough) is able to outright ruin any reapers day (or night).

The thanix cannon is a very overrated weapon it's slow projectile velocity severely limits it's effectiveness, also it's a gun which forces the equipped vessel to get in close and line up a shot thus exposing itself to fire. On top of that is the large power requirements would likely mean that a thanix cannon fitted to a fighter would need to be reduced in size to such a state that it might not be worth carrying.

Also you should take in to account that since it is a reaper weapon it's characteristics likely went into the design of their own defenses.

I do agree with you on torpedoes though as large expendables generally sacrifice range not hitting power to be mounted on smaller platforms, also ranged guided munitions tend to provide their carrier with means to avoid fire either through range or off boresight capability.

I just reread some of the entries in the wiki and I have admit that the Thanix wouldn't be a good weapon for the fighters against large targets. It might be usable on interceptors, though, in case the reapers got some oculus with them.

That leaves the bombers with javelins, but that still one hell of problem to face for the reapers as we haven't seen any GARDIAN defences from them. Heck, the wiki only states the shield and hull as defences for them, which puts them in quite a predicament towards these kind of attacks...

Indeed, which is why I have been advocating FTL torps as this might very well solve the threat posed by GARDIAN systems and, would reduce the effectiveness of fighters attempting to intercept and missiles.

Also this weapon use two possible methods of defeating active protection systems the first being that the mass plus the velocity might be too much for the barrier to handle, the second method on the oher hand is that because the codex states that "Once a ship enters FTL flight the combat is effectively over: there are no sensors capable of tracking them" this could mean that sensors might fail to properly activate the barriers in time or if at all.

It should be noted though that the reapers as AIs would be able to easily override sensors and activate the barriers over the entire direction of the attack but, this would likely decrease their effectiveness by being active for longer periods than usual and, because the barriers would likely have less deflection in being spread out across a larger area.

The weapon from Klendagon is gone as far as I remember. However, if that species could create it, no reason another can't.

I think that I´ve seen some oculus taking down a fighter or gunship that crashes against a building on the E3 demo.

Nah the reapers will be killed by the germs and bacteria that man has become immune to over thousands of years. The one thing they didn't account for... Awesome ending is awesome

Go go H.G. Wells, deus ex bacteria.

It would be bacteria ex machina

Deus ex machina
God (Single; Nominiative) from a (Preposition; Takes the Ablative crane (Single Ablative)

When we put bacteria into the phrase, we replace it from God, and take its case (Nominative).

So therefore it would be bacteria ex machina.

If you're really hardcore then, BACTERIAEXMACHINA, or EXMACHINABACTERIA.

I think we're going to use an uber-upgraded Thanix cannon en masse.

That or a Deus Ex Machina.

I'm hoping for the former.

We don't need a Deus Ex Machina to defeat them. All we need is a way to weaken their shields or find a way to make our ammunition get past them. We've seen from Sovering once his shields were down the Reaper's armor wasn't able to survive more than a few seconds of fire.

Heck a dreadnaught sized Reaper had armor that a frigate was able to punch through and destroy in one well placed hit. If we can take down the shields than the war becomes believable that we could win.

probably something slow moving, as to not trigger the kinetic barriers. maybe something that can dig into the hull, and is rigged with a nuke/EMP? The shields are nigh-impenetrable, however the armor isn't very strong on reapers.

Nuke it from orbit, and I mean nukes, not that crap from the trailer.

^ This. Or load up a nuclear warhead onto reinforced freighters and kamikaze the b#$tards while naval forces engage them to drop shields. They may be hyper advanced sentient machines, but my guess is unshielded they still dont have much of a chance vs an A-bomb.

There may be reprocussions for heavily using nuclear weapons, but I love the idea of humanity saying "Screw it, we're going down swinging if we have to."  in a cornered dog style.

You think this would be what the protheans and other civilisations would have done. Nukes, i mean.

Mass Effect 3 better do something amazing, that it's believable that the other civilisations wouldn't be able to do.

Consider this.
Lets say the Reapers have 1000 ships (I truly dont see them having more then that). Superior Weapons/Tech.

HOWEVER

Combined galactic forces would probably have 50,000 ships (minimum).

If an all out space war broke out, you would have to give the edge to the combined force. It's not like they are throwing rocks out there. They have high level weapons as well.

That is why Shepard is rushing to unite the galaxy.

Makes me wonder though. What will the final fight be like? Since a Reaper is a ship after all, and since we control Shepard, the final boss would (assumed) have to be something we can fight on the ground, right? Maybe the Illusive Man really is a major player for the Reapers (didnt even think about that).

I honestly don't think that the combined forces of the galaxy is capable of defeating the Reapers. It'll probably take a deus ex machina.

my suggestions are
1) EMP Harbringer there for killing there leader and hopefully the reapers connected 2 him.
2) Probe the suckers.
3) cluster**** them.
4) blow the sun next 2 halestrom.
5) Play Justin Beiber music over loudspeakers.
if all that fails crawl into fetal position and weep.

Use the Turian councilor and his finger quotes, the reapers won't know what to do when their existence is dismissed.

Put Justin Bieber and Rebbeca Black in front of the Reaper fleet and have them sing until every last Reaper has self destructed.

Given that the Reapers are far more advanced than everyone else, it's unlikely that "uploading a virus" would be in any way successful.
