There's still time to sign him on BW! Mordin is iconic!

This. Beattie did a terrific job for Mordin, it would be tough to hear anyone else in the role.l DryIce l wrote...
I would be very, very upset if Mordin did not have the same voice actor. He did an amazing job in ME2, and I knew it wasn't his voice in the ME3 demo.

They wouldn't screw up a major character like Mordin, especially if Michael actually wants to do the VO.
Just keep in mind, the game's a little less than a year away from release and there's plenty of voice actors we haven't heard from yet.

1. BioWare weren't happy with Beattie's performance in ME2.
2. Beattie is no longer interested in voice acting and wants to get into screen acting.
3. Beattie had too many other commitments to fit it into his schedule.
4. BioWare couldn't negotiate a prie between him, and Beattie wanted more than BioWare would normally pay.
Can't see why else this would happen.

5. Mordin's lines are far from finished yet, so there's no reason to call Beattie in.Fiery Phoenix wrote...

There's still what 8 months and change to go before release?
He didn't say he won't be back as VO, just that he hasn't heard from Bioware yet.

This would be another possibility but it's a *very* unlikely one since he explicitly stated no one has called him yet. ME3 is out this coming March and as such all voice acting should be finalized in the next few months at most.daqs wrote...

Nobody'd called Keith David a few months before ME2 was released. I forget, did he end up doing Anderson's voice?Fiery Phoenix wrote...

None of those fit with his apparent desire to voice Mordin again and the fact his VA was one of the most popular with fans and critics alike - say what you want about current BioWare but I don't see them ignoring fan and critic feedback on a relatively minor and easy to sort topic such as this.
The only plausible one is that he/his agent asked for more money than BioWare is willing to pay due to the amount of important characters in ME3, but I would still be somewhat amazed if it was that.
Much more likely right now is that they just haven't finalised Mordin's lines in the game and thus haven't called in the VA to do the work. Things change in development and I've heard at least one developer talk about how they have had to call in VAs to do a set of scenes all over again due to things changing - that would be a costly enough for them to try and avoid it.
It is definitely worrying that he hasn't been contacted about a role yet, but it's still too early to panic and start falsely claiming that he has been recast in my opinion.

I honestly don't know, but normally you'd expect voice actors to at least know they still have some work to do in advance. In any event, I hope it's just that they haven't called him yet. Would suck to lose him.daqs wrote...

What's Mordin without his voice?
A fantastic script.
And a lovably ugly face.

Y'know what... screw it... just... just say Mordin died between games... don't even let me meet him in ME3.... just kill him off and be done with it.... Because there's 1 thing for certain I know.... if I hear that nasally, "my testicles haven't dropped yet" alternate rendition of Mordin in game, I will completely be pulled out of the immersion and reminded for every second he speaks that this is NOT Mordin... it's just someone trying to pretend to sound like him.
Just kill Mordin off and end it... I don't want that Salarian abortion alternate in my game.
... (Unless of course they eventually find their sanity and re-hire Beattie.... then don't kill him.

Good news - Voice-recording for ME3 was already being done pre-E3 (Garrus and Anderson have completely new lines in the E3 demo).
Bad news - Its fairly common in the videogame industry to bring VA's in during the latter months of production -
"It is common (and bad) practice to seek voice actors late in the development process when the script is almost finished when "getting the voices in" is high on the agenda. The process: get game working, rewrite voice script to match final gameplay, cast actors, record actors, get voice assets in game and get it mastered before the deadline.
A high percentage of my time is spent talking with dev teams and publishers regarding best practice as this common practice, deemed expedient, doesn't lead to good results." - Mark Estdale
My guess is that larger roles like key npc's and squadmates are being recorded first, with minor npc's and cameos following in the later stages of production.
